A switch including an elongated tubular base member having a plurality of ring shaped insulators and conductors alternately mounted thereon and having threads formed in the outer surface thereof. A switching control ring having mating threads in the inner surface thereof and a conducting surface in sliding engagement with the outer surface of the ring shaped insulators and conductors so that switching action occurs as the control ring is moved axially along the structure. The elongated tubular base member operates as a housing to receive electronic circuitry therein, which circuitry may be sealed so that the assembled apparatus provides external switching for the internal circuitry of a hermetically sealed unit.

Electronic packages and the like, particularly finished packages with leaky welds, are hermetically sealed by vapor deposition of a polymer film through a sealable port. A high quality film is obtained by slow deposition of a monomer vapor which subsequently polymerizes. The process is not destructive due to the lack of high temperatures and curing agents. Extremely low permeability for common molecules and for water vapor is achieved by utilizing C-type para-xylylene as the polymer material.

Method of hermetically sealing electronic packages

A receiver system includes means for electromagnetically coupling audio bandwidth information signals from an induction loop to a miniature induction receiver/transducer. The induction loop is shaped to be worn around the neck of a wearer. The receiver/transducer is physically shaped for placement in the mouth of the wearer. In response to the varying magnetic induction field generated by the induction loop, the audio bandwidth information signals are amplified by the receiver and converted into substantially linear mechanical movement by the transducer. The output of the transducer is propagated mechanically, directly to the inner ear mechanism, via the teeth and gums of the wearer whereby the wearer perceives the message content of the audio bandwidth information signals without the use of conventional outer ear mechanism.

Receiver system for receiving audio electrical signals

A fluid pressure sensor for use internal to the human body including a completely ceramic sectioned outer shell having an opening therein for allowing fluid access to a thin metal diaphragm member. The thin metal diaphragm member is disposed between the sectioned outer shell by diffusion bonding in order to limit exposure of the human tissue solely to the diaphragm member and the ceramic shell. A variable tuned LC circuit is responsive to fluid pressure for establishing a predetermined electrical parameter. The electrical parameter is capable of affecting an electromagnetically responsive electrical circuit means located external to the human body for providing data indicative of the fluid pressure. The thin diaphragm member constitutes one plate of the LC circuit and the remainder of the LC circuit is located beneath the thin diaphragm member so as to be protected from fluid and moisture.
