Treatment apparatus supporting a patient lying in a generally prone or supine position for manipulation includes a base and a table supported thereabove for movement between selected different horizontal positions or working levels for treatment of the patient. The table is tiltable toward and away from an upright position for facilitating the patient in mounting and dismounting before and after treatment and includes a foot piece adjacent an end of the table for supporting the patient when mounting and dismounting. A plurality of cushions are mounted for movement along the table to selectably adjustable positions for accommodating patients of different size and shape. The table includes an electrically powered drive system for movement of table components for controlling the different selected working levels for the convenience of a particular chiropractor or other practitioner, the tilting action and cushion position adjustments and a memory is provided in a control system so that table positions and movements for a particular patient and treatment practitioner are automatically repeatable. One or more automatic self-cocking, electrically controlled drops are provided for cushions on the table to initiate automatic lifting and recocking of the drop so that the practitioner can maintain continuous hand contact with the patient being treated while successive drops are performed. The drops automatically measure the patient's weight and provide for a selectively adjustable amount of downward force exerted by the practitioner for initiating a drop of the cushion in a direction selected.

Patient treatment apparatus

A new and improved treatment table for supporting a patient in a face down prone position for chiropractic manipulation of the cervical vertebrae patient's spine includes a base extending upwardly of the floor to a convenient working level and a thoracic cushion for supporting a patient's body below the neck in the prone position at the work level. A headpiece is pivotally interconnected relative to the thoracic cushion for supporting the patient's head during manipulation treatment. The headpiece is pivotal about a laterally extending horizontal axis spaced at a level above the thoracic cushion and just below or at a level coincident with the patient's spine. The headpiece is also movable in lateral flexion about an upwardly extending axis and is rotatable about a roll axis generally coincident with the patient's spinal axis. Independent locks are provided for selectively locking or releasing the headpiece for movement about one or more of the respective axes at a particular time to effect a particular type of treatment. A height adjustable handle is mounted on the headpiece to facilitate the chiropractor in the manipulative treatment of the patient in flexion/distraction, lateral flexion, spinal rotation or selected combinations thereof such as circumduction. An occipital harness is provided for securing a patient's head in place on the headpiece for use when spinal traction is desired in connection with flexion/distraction treatment.

An assist bar is provided for facilitating a standing chiropractor in the manipulative treatment of a prone patient's spine while the patient is supported on a leg support section of a chiropractic table of the type having a body support section for the patient's body pivotally interconnected with the leg support section. The assist bar includes a connector at one end for securing the bar to the leg support section remote from the pivotal interconnection of the section with the main body support section. The assist bar extends outwardly of the leg support section and a handle is provided adjacent an outer end portion for facilitating a chiropractor in manipulating the patient's lower body up and down or side to side while making adjustments in the patient's spine with the other hand on the patient's body on the body support section.

A patient treatment table for supporting a patient laying in a generally horizontal position for treatment at an elevated level above the floor surface includes a base adapted to rest on the floor surface for supporting the table for movement between a first position for patient treatment and a second position for mounting and dismounting. The table includes a control system for moving the table between said positions having an electric motor and/or electrically activated hydraulic control valves and a safety system for deenergizing the electric motor and/or deactivating the control valves in response to a hazardous condition. The system includes a switch mat positioned on the floor surface adjacent the base which is operative to deenergize the electric motor and/or deactivate the control valves in response to pressure applied to the switch mat. The table includes further safety systems activated by pressure applied for preventing injury to a patient's foot, arm or limb as the table is moved from the second position toward the first position.

A table for supporting a patient lying in a generally horizontal position for chiropractic manipulation includes a base projecting upwardly from the floor to a convenient working level and a pivotally mounted thoracic support section for supporting the thorax of the patient which is adjustable about an axis generally corresponding to the patient's spinal axis. The table includes a caudal section supportively connected to the base with ball joints permitting movement of the patient's legs in lateral caudal flexion from side to side about a generally vertical yaw axis and flexion movement about a laterally extending horizontal pitch axis in a vertical direction between upwardly sloping and downwardly sloping positions. A support cushion is mounted for rotation on the caudal section between a range of selected rotational positions about a longitudinal roll axis to accomplish caudal rotation of the patient. A leaf spring and adjustment assembly compensate for a patient's weight. Lock means and height adjustment means are provided.

Chiropractic manipulation table

A patient treatment table includes a base and a patient supporting table mounted for pivotal movement relative to the base between a first generally horizontal position supporting a patient at a convenient level for treatment and a second generally upstanding position for facilitating a patient in mounting and dismounting. The table includes a footboard at the foot end of the table which is positioned in a generally horizontal position near the surface of the floor, to assist a patient in mounting and dismounting, when the table is in the upstanding position. A linkage mechanism is provided for interconnecting the table and the footboard so that as the table is moved between the upstanding and horizontal positions the footboard is automatically moved to a tucked away position beneath the amnle supporting cushion of the table so that the chiropractor can stand relatively close to the feet of the patient and can make the numerous checks on the relative alignment of the patient's feet, which are required during each chiropractic treatment, without producing back strain or other physical impairment of the chiropractor at the end of the day.

Patient treatment table

A tapping machine is herein disclosed. The tapping machine includes a base. A frame is connected to the base. A movable drive assembly is movably connected to the frame. A cutter is connected drivingly to the movable drive assembly. The base is adapted to engage a gate valve, or the like. In operation the drive assembly moves along the frame to bring the cutter through the gate valve into selective engagement with a pipe which is to be tapped.

Tapping machine

A removable cutter tooth for use with a cylindrical tooth carrier is herein disclosed. The removable cutter tooth has an elongated base. A thrust pin is formed integral with, and perpendicular to, a portion of the elongated base. A rib is also formed integral with the elongated base. A cutting insert is connected to the elongated base and to the rib.
