A process for preparing methanol from carbon dioxide and hydrogen in a methanol synthesis unit and working up the reaction mixture obtained stepwise to isolate the methanol, wherein the carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, dimethyl ether and methane components of value from the streams separated off in the isolation of the methanol from the methanol reaction stream are combusted with an oxygenous gas, and the carbon dioxide in the resultant flue gas is separated off in a carbon dioxide recovery unit and recycled to the methanol synthesis unit.

Process for preparing methanol from carbon dioxide and hydrogen with quantitative carbon dioxide utilization

A process is proposed for the separation of Ccuts by distillation into a low-boiler (A), a medium-boiler (B) and a high-boiler fraction (C) in one or more dividing-wall columns (TK), in which a dividing wall (T) is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the column with formation of an upper, common column region (), a lower, common column region (), a feed part () with rectifying section () and stripping section (), and a withdrawal part () with rectifying section () and stripping section (), with feed of the Ccut (A, B, C) into the central region of the feed part (), discharge of the high-boiler fraction (C) from the bottom of the column, discharge of the low-boiler fraction (A) via the top of the column, and discharge of the medium-boiler fraction (B) from the central region of the withdrawal part (), wherein the dividing ratio of the liquid reflux at the upper end of the dividing wall (T) is set in such a way that the proportion of high-boiling key components in the liquid reflux over the stripping section () of the withdrawal part at the upper end of the dividing wall (T) is from 10 to 80%, preferably from 30 to 50%, of the limit value allowed in the medium-boiler fraction (B), and wherein the heating power in the evaporator at the bottom of the dividing-wall column (TK) is set in such a way that the concentration of the low-boiling key components in the liquid at the lower end of the dividing wall (T) is from 10 to 80%, preferably from 30 to 50%, of the limit value allowed in the medium-boiler fraction (B).

Unsaturated compounds in hydrocarbon streams are hydrogenated over a catalyst which, in the unused state, shows reflections which correspond to the following lattice plane spacings in the X-ray diffraction pattern &lsqb;in 10 m&rsqb;: 4.52, 2.85, 2.73, 2.44, 2.31, 2.26, 2.02, 1.91, 1.80, 1.54, 1.51, 1.49, 1.45 and 1.39 and have specific relative intensities.

Catalyst and processes for the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds in hydrocarbon streams

A supported catalyst comprising a catalytically active metal and a support modified by application of modifiers to an inner support material is produced by applying the catalytically active metal in the form of its chloride-free dissolved amine complexes, acetylacetonate complexes or allyl complexes to the modified support. A process for producing this supported catalyst and a process for the catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds using this supported catalyst are also provided.

Supported catalyst and its use in hydrogenation

A catalyst packing which can be produced by vapor deposition and/or sputtering of at least one substance active as catalyst and/or promotor onto woven or knitted fabrics or sheets as support material is used in a process for catalytic distillation in which a heterogeneously catalyzed reaction is combined with a simultaneous distillation or rectification over the catalyst packing.

Catalytic distillation process

The disclosure is a process for preparing mixtures of monoolefinic C,mononitriles having nonconjugated C&boxH;C&mdash; and C&equiv;N bonding by catalytic hydrocyanation of a hydrocarbon mixture containing 1,3-butadiene, by first diminishing the proportion of those components in the hydrocarbon mixture which impair the catalytic hydrocyanation and then subjecting the resulting mixture to catalytic hydrocyanation.

Monoolefinic C5 mononitriles, method for the production and the use thereof

Amines are prepared by reacting primary or secondary alcohols, aldehydes or ketones with nitrogen compounds selected from the group consisting of ammonia and primary and secondary amines at elevated temperatures and superatmospheric pressures in the presence of hydrogen and of a catalyst containing copper and oxygen-containing compounds of titanium by a process in which the catalyst is used in the form of moldings which have been prepared with the addition of metallic copper powder.

Preparation of amines

The preparation of olefins from steam cracker or refinery C.sub.4 streams is carried out by selective hydrogenation of butadienes and acetylenic impurities in the steam cracker or refinery C.sub.4 stream, with simultaneous or subsequent, at least partial isomerization of 1-butene to 2-butene, followed by removal of i-butene from the C.sub.4 stream by reaction with an alcohol to form an ether, followed by removal of oxygen-containing impurities from the C.sub.4 stream using adsorber materials, followed by two-stage metathesis of the butenes in the C.sub.4 stream by conversion of 1-butene and 2-butene present in the C.sub.4 stream into propene and 2-pentene and subsequent reaction of the 2-pentene with ethene in the presence of a metathesis catalyst to form propene and 1-butene. Optionally, butadiene may be removed from the C.sub.4 stream by extractive distillation in a preliminary step.

Preparation of olefins

In a process for the hydrogenation of multiply unsaturated C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 hydrocarbons, in particular C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkynes and/or C.sub.4 -C.sub.8 -alkynenes and/or C.sub.4 -C.sub.8 -alkadienes in fluids comprising these by contact with a catalyst packing in the presence of free hydrogen, the catalyst packing can be produced by applying at least one substance which is active as catalyst and/or promoter to woven or knitted meshes or foils as support material.
