A polymer latex composition has an acrylonitrile component, a polychloroprene component, and a natural latex component. When these components are blended together and formed into a film, the film exhibits a resistance to ozone that is greater than a resistance to ozone of materials in which acrylonitrile is not included. Furthermore, the combination of acrylonitrile and chloroprene imparts a synergistic effect to the composition with regard to ozone resistance. The film can be formed into a glove having a resistance to ozone that is improved over the resistance to ozone of gloves not including acrylonitrile. The glove may include an antimicrobial agent.

The present invention provides a glove for a wearer. The glove has a hand covering portion and an arm covering portion connected to the hand covering portion. The arm covering portion has a number of segments with each connected to one another by a pivot. The arm covering portion in a first position covers and protects the wearer. The arm covering portion in a second position forms an obstruction to prevent a liquid from contacting the wearer with the obstruction trapping the liquid therein.

Glove having a cuffed portion

The present invention is directed to an article having at least one surface coated with electrostatically flocked material. The flock material used is one or more fibers, preferably synthetic fibers. When electrostatically flocked onto the article surface, the flock material is oriented, thus providing a silky smooth feel to the surface. The articles may include, for example, elastic articles such as rubber gloves, elastic medical drapes or wraps, elastic orthopedic supports/braces and clothing. The present invention also provides a process and apparatus for electrostatically flocking material onto an article.

Electrostatic flocking and articles made therefrom

The present invention provides a multiple, long-term use, antimicrobial glove. The glove is formed from one or more layers of material having a latex-based matrix with an antimicrobial agent, such as diiodomethyl-p-tolylsulfone, homogeneously incorporated therein. Optionally, the glove may also have additional antimicrobial agents incorporated therein. The glove of the present invention is capable of inhibiting molds and other microbes from proliferating on any surface of the glove, during both storage and use, which results in the prevention of malodor, discoloration, and degradation of the glove. Also, the glove of the present invention is believed to be capable of providing an antimicrobial effect to surfaces contacted by the antimicrobial glove.

Antimicrobial glove and method of making same

There are provided methods for making a fragranced glove. The first method comprises the steps of: providing a glove with an inside surface and an outside surface, applying a fragrance to the glove, tumbling the glove to evenly distribute the fragrance, and drying the glove to remove the residual fragrance. The second method comprises the steps of providing a cured glove having an inside surface and an outside surface placed in their proper positions; halogenating the glove; rinsing the halogenated glove in a rinse solution; drying the rinsed glove; and applying a fragrance on the glove. The third method comprises providing a cured glove having an inside surface and an outside surface; halogenating the glove; neutralizing the halogenated glove; rinsing the glove in a rinse solution after neutralizing; drying the rinsed glove; cooling the dried glove; applying a fragrance onto the dried glove; and, tumbling the glove to distribute evenly the fragrance.
