A vehicle has a climate control system using a heat pump having a condenser heat exchanger that exchanges heat between refrigerant and working fluid within a hot fluid chamber, and an evaporator heat exchanger that exchanges heat between refrigerant and working fluid within a cold fluid chamber. A super-heated fluid pressure vessel may be in fluid communication with the cold fluid chamber by way of a heat exchanger and an electrically controlled variable delivery valve, and has an electric heater that may be powered by a drivetrain battery or by a shore power source. The hot fluid chamber provides heat to at least one cabin heat exchanger and to at least one ambient air heat exchanger. The cold fluid chamber is connected to at least one vehicle interior cooling module, to a waste heat source, and to a cold fluid chamber to outside heat exchanger.

Vehicle engine-off heating and cooling climate control using super-heated fluid for heating

A vehicle climate control system has a control strategy which controls temperature of an evaporator in a refrigeration circuit to achieve a target temperature/relative humidity within a comfort zone which is defined by upper and lower temperature boundaries and upper and lower relative humidity boundaries. Several system embodiments are disclosed, including an all-electric system. All systems operate with improved efficiency.

Vehicle climate control system

A rotary engine has a circular shaped rotor and stator. The rotor has an expansion chamber for combustion and the stator has thrust director gate that passes through a passageway through the stator face to alternatively ride along the face of the rotor or to ride within the expansion chamber of the rotor. Passageways through the stator and radially close to the thrust director gate allow for air, fuel, and an ignition source to pass through the stator allow for ignition and expansion of the fuel within the expansion chamber. The thrust director allows for thrust to be applied to the rotor to rotate the rotor. An exhaust manifold, also passing through stator, and also radially aligned with the expansion chamber allows exhaust gases from combustion to be released from the expansion chamber as the rotor rotates the expansion chamber adjacent to the exhaust manifold.

Rotary engine

A climate control system () for a cabin () of an electric vehicle () has at least one liquid-to-air heat exchanger () in heat exchange relation with air in the cabin and a set of control valves for selectively placing the climate control system in a cabin heating mode of operation in which hot liquid circulates through a hot liquid flow loop () and in a cabin cooling mode of operation in which cold liquid circulates through a cold liquid flow loop (). An electric compressor motor (M) is operated by electricity from a battery bank () for operating a refrigerant compressor (C) to circulate refrigerant in a refrigerant loop that comprises a refrigerant-to-liquid hot side heat exchanger () that provides the hot liquid and a refrigerant-to-liquid cold side heat exchanger () that provides the cold liquid.

Climate control system for the interior of an electric drive vehicle

The integrated power system provides for the integration of multiple sources of power for powering a vehicle accessory. The integrated power system provides a power sharing connection which provides for a balance of the load current demanded by the vehicle accessory. As a result, excessive engine loading is avoided.

Integrated power system for delivery of power to a vehicle accessory

A vehicle control system is programmed to stop the vehicle's internal combustion engine upon certain conditions including the vehicle being stopped and engine temperature having reached a minimum operating level. On vehicles equipped with air brakes and having an engine driven air compressor, engine restarts are provided by an air pressure supported hydraulic motor once triggered by operator actions such as releasing the brake and/or depressing the vehicle's accelerator indicative of the driver's intention to move the vehicle.

In-a vehicle energy management system engine belt or engine direct driven components are replaced with electrical motors. A main fan unit is replaced with smaller single function electrical components. The larger multipurpose heat exchangers such as the vehicle radiator are replaced with smaller single function heat exchangers associated with the smaller electric fans. The energy management system may involve a main vehicle engine crankshaft mounted generator. This generator creates high voltage DC electricity. In one embodiment, the converter is a closed loop converter that makes the conversion of DC to AC alternatively turning on and off at a varying frequency in order to produce a time averaged AC output.

A full-sized outdoor golf course is described with any number of holes, usually 18 or 36 holes. Each hole is made up of a tee, a fairway, and a green. The holes are laid out in a pattern that makes it practical for each group of players on the golf course to play the holes in random order. This is accomplished by organizing the holes in a pattern that greatly increases the number of tees that are available to pick from after leaving any green on the course. All tees and greens, and only tees and greens, but no fairways, are located along special cart paths (), that run roughly perpendicular to the normal cart paths that usually run along each fairway, so that when finishing play on any green, several tees are reachable by golf cart in a relatively short predetermined time, preferably 1&#xbd; minutes or less, using the special cart paths ().

A system and process for optimizing vehicle service intervals for a plurality of vehicle service items begins with determination of a minimum service interval. The minimum service interval is set by the need to provide critical, though routine services such as engine oil changes and chassis lubrication. Multiple potential service intervals exist for at least one component, typically engine oil changes, based on different vehicle operating variables. Depending upon the character of vehicle use, one variable will control determination of the recommended interval for engine oil, which, after conversion to distance, is compared with the chassis lubrication to find the minimum service interval. Additional components/fluids are included for service based on operational variables selected to determine service intervals for these components.

Automated synchronized service intervals for vehicles

The brake lining and wear estimation system operates using extant vehicle sensors such as those used to implement height and stability control systems or anti-lock brake systems. This minimizes, or eliminates, the need to modify the brake units themselves. Compressed air systems used on heavy duty vehicles to support the operation of various systems, including air brakes, provide pressure monitoring features in various pneumatic circuits, which can be monitored to estimate brake lining application pressure or vehicle loading. Vehicle speed and brake actuation periods are derived from other commonly employed sensors. Data collected from the sensors is supplied to a central, programmable computer over a data bus to generate the heat and wear estimates.

Vehicle onboard brake pad/lining wear estimators with temperature estimations

A vehicle power take off system provides power for a variety of systems including a source of alternating current power for conventional electrical equipment to be powered by the vehicle. In a preferred electrical implementation, the power take off system is energized from the vehicle direct current electrical power system and generates alternating current of the desired voltage using a derectifier and step up transformer. Management of the system is implemented through modularized units which may be connected to communicate with another over a vehicle's controller area network. Load management may be monitored by an existing on board computer.

Modularized power take-off systems for vehicles

An exhaust gas recirculating system for a turbocharged diesel engine utilizes an electrically driven compression pump to boost exhaust gas pressure before return to the engine induction system. Exhaust gas is drawn from the exhaust system or stack some distance removed and downstream from the outlet from the exhaust turbine, compressed to overcome the intake manifold boost pressure, and returned to the intake system along an extended pipe to cool the gas. The compressor is energized from the vehicle battery during periods of demand for peak pressure demand on the engine thereby recycling recaptured energy from the battery to boost engine output. Exhaust turbine performance during periods of peak loading is also improved.
