Techniques and solutions are described for transferring metadata between software applications. A translation framework stores metadata models in a standard format. Source applications can cause metadata models to be stored in the translation framework in the standard format. A target application can receive metadata models, or elements thereof, from the translation framework, which metadata models can be optionally converted from the standard format to a target format used by the target application. The translation framework can store annotations to a metadata model in the form of custom metadata types. The custom metadata types can be used by one or both of the target application and a source application. Source applications can cause values to be stored for annotations they support. Target applications can read values for annotations they support. Source applications and target applications do not write or read, respectively, unsupported annotations.

Unified metadata model translation framework

A system for visually enhancing a chart of one or more data sets with semantic information, the data points in the data sets being values of one or more measures. The system includes a data model that specifies the one or more measures and includes measure annotations for the one or more measures. The measure annotations include semantic information of the measures. The system further includes a processor that executes instructions stored in the memory to implement a chart component. The chart component renders data points of the one or more data sets in a chart, and visually enhances the chart with semantic information of the one or more measures retrieved from the data model.

Uniform chart formatting based on semantics in data models

In a computing system, key figures are made available for selection in an electronic data repository. The key figures are selectable by any of a plurality of distributed systems. A request for a key figure value calculation is received from one of the distributed systems, and request is made for an identifier of one of the key figures. Data is accessed for the key figure from at least one electronic data source, and the data is used to compute a value for the key figure. The value for the key figure is stored in an electronic storage location.

Among other disclosed subject matter, a computer-implemented method for determining a value for an indicator includes identifying an indicator for which a value is to be determined. The method includes identifying parameters to be used in determining a specific time interval for determining the value, the identified parameters including at least: (i) a first offset parameter; (ii) a second offset parameter; and (iii) a third offset parameter. The method includes determining the specific time interval using at least the identified parameters and the reference time point. The method includes determining the value for the indicator using at least the determined specific time interval. The method includes recording the determined value.

Determining a value for an indicator

Monitoring a connection between computer system layers includes detecting that an aspect is being modified in a transactional layer of an enterprise resource computing system that further includes an analytical layer configured to receive data from the transactional layer. In response to the detection, it is determined whether at least one of several decoupling components, configured for use by the analytical layer in receiving the data, is implicated by the aspect. A predefined output is made to a user based on the determination. An enterprise resource computing system includes a transactional layer and an analytical layer, and decoupling components for use by the analytical layer in receiving the data. Upon an aspect of the transactional layer being modified, a predefined output is made to a user based on a determination of whether any of several decoupling components is implicated by the aspect.
