A combination of an adhesive-supporting clip and an aluminum or PVC sash with a drop-in light opening for a glass pane. The adhesive-supporting clip serves as the connection between the glass pane mounted in the sash and the sash itself. This is achieved by mounting the clip to the glazing leg of the sash through a mechanical connection on the clip and then dropping the perimeter of the glass pane onto an adhesive applied to an exposed surface of the clip. This permits a glazer to rapidly remove and replace a broken glass pane by simply disengaging the clip and reinstalling either the cleaned old clip or a new glass pane or mounting a new pane directly on the glazing leg.

An extruded plastic glazing bead 1 for securing a window 17, 19 which removably locks into place by a resilient locking structure 9 has an elastic cushioning part 7, coextruded with the glazing bead, which makes contact with the frame 15, and thus acts in securing and removing the glazing bead.

The invention features an elongated strip of resilient material, which strip is secured in and partially surrounds a mounting member, where the resilient strip member has a semi-cylindrical body with a pair of circumferentially facing edge portions. The resilient strip also includes a pair of oppositely disposed, radially-inwardly extending solid, wedge shaped latch members, each extending longitudinally of the latch member and located between one of the edge portions and a point 45 degrees away from the mid-line of the semi-cylindrical body. The mounting member includes a web portion having a pair of oppositely disposed web-latch extensions extending across a chord of the semi-cylindrical body, substantially parallel to a tangent to the circumference of the semi-cylindrical body at its mid-line, and at least one leg member extending from the web portion away from the semi-cylindrical body. A pair of oppositely disposed base members, each extend from a leg member, away from each other and each terminate in a base latch portion. Each of the pair of web latch extensions mates with the semi-cylindrical body adjacent the solid radial latch member, between the latch member and the mid-line of the semi-cylindrical body and each of the pair of base latch portions mates with the semi-cylindrical body adjacent the radial latch member, between the latch member and the closest edge portion.

Resilient strip and mounting member for flush fitting protective strip

An improved curb frame for a skylight construction is provided in the form of a single extrusion element having an outwardly and downwardly curve sealing lip adapted for engagement with the interior of the retainer of the skylight. The sealing lip, even though formed of rigid plastic, is made sufficiently thin so that it flexes to take up the tolerance between the retainer and the curb frame.

An improved end cap for a rub rail is formed of two pieces, namely an inner part and an outer part. The inner part is appropriately connected to the channel strip base and has an abutment surface which underlays the end of the rub rail. The second or outer part has a squeezing surface which overlays the end of the rub rail. A screw or the like tightly attaches the outer part to the inner part and in so doing squeezes the end of the rub rail between the abutment surface and the squeezing surface thereby tightly capturing such end of the rub rail and providing a secure and decorative assembly.

Rub rail end caps

A rub rail assembly includes a rub rail support channel member suitably attached, such as by screws or the like, to a surface to be protected, and a rub rail member which is engaged with the rub rail support member. The rub rail member in turn is formed of two relatively thin layers dual durometer co-extruded, the upper layer being soft plastic and the bottom layer being stiff plastic. The thickness is sufficiently small so that the rub rail member can be coiled prior to installation, and so that it can be deformed transversely to a generally hemi-cylindrical shape for engagement with the rub rail support member.

A co-extruded all-polymer weatherstrip has a retainer including a base portion and support portion, an elastic portion extending upwardly from the retainer for providing the desired and needed resiliency, and a generally rigid contact strip supported by and integral with the elastic portion. The rigid contact strip is self-supporting so as to retain its shape and position without becoming creased, wrinkled or bunched-up when subjected to sliding action.

A hard plastic tambour slat commonly used in roll-up doors is made silent when contact is made with neighboring slats by the addition of some soft plastic at one or more of the contact points of the slat with adjacent slats.

A straight drain tube for use with window assemblies includes a linear conduit having an inlet end for receiving moisture build-up and a outlet for dispensing the moisture to the outside of the window structure. The drain tube also includes closure means for sealing the conduit's outlet end, which is seated in an integrally molded closure face unitary with the conduit.

Flexible ribs on the upper interior facing arm surfaces of a rigid channel member, and the interior facing surfaces of the rigid channel member arms including the surface portions disposed between the ribs, are colored black, so that black sealant which has been smeared over the outer surfaces of a DIG panel located within the channel member, will be camouflaged.

Thermal window frame

An integrally extruded all plastic 'pile' weatherstrip comprises an elongated longitudinal substrate from which vertically project a plurality of integral, spaced parallel, thin, flexible, deformable, wavy S-configured fin members. The exposed upper ends of all or any desired lesser number of the fin elements may be partially slit to from 20% to 100% of the fin height to control the amount of air and water moisture infiltration through the weatherstrip. The fin element ends are slit at a desired bias angle with respect to a horizontal line lying within a horizontal plane surface in which the fin ends are located. The extrudable plastic is preferably high density polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride and may optionally contain an ultra-violet absorbent composition and a partially compatible lubricant. The wavy fin weatherstrip assembly may be manufactured by unbalancing an extrusion die so that the rate of plastic flow through the fin forming orifices is substantially greater than that occurring at the base or substrate forming orifice. Alternatively, the extrusion die can be built in sections and by oscillating the fin orifice section relative to a fixed base orifice section, or vice versa, the wavy fin configuration is extruded.

Extruded fin-type weatherstrip

A high stiffness siding for use on the exterior surfaces of buildings, particularly houses, in an overlapping pattern, is formed of unitary structural foam plastic, preferably polyvinyl chloride, with integral reinforcing ribs on its internal surface. The thickness of the siding is about 55-85 mils, with the ribs being about 25-65 mils thick; the density of the foam is about 0.85 to 1.15, except in the vicinity of the ribs, the ribs having a density of about 0.75.
