According to the method for configuring an information system (), components () are provided for the information system () and component-specific error susceptibility data () on the individual components (). For a given system configuration (), error susceptibility information () is determined for the information system () in this given system configuration () as a function of the component-specific error susceptibility data (). The error susceptibility information () is evaluated with reference to given evaluation criteria (). In a subsequent step, the information system () is configured in the given system configuration () if the error susceptibility information () satisfies the given evaluation criteria (). By means of the method, it is achieved that only system configurations are accepted that satisfy requirements specified by the evaluation criteria () with respect to the reliability of the information system ().

Method and management system for configuring an information system

A method for fault handling of a data processing unit is disclosed. The method includes automatic acquisition of input information and/or output information of a user at at least one user interface of the data processing unit; automatic detection of a fault message that indicates a fault of the data processing unit; transmission of the acquired fault message together with the input information and/or the output information to a fault handling center; and evaluation of the transmitted fault message in the fault handling center.

Method and apparatus for elimination of faults of a data processing system

A fault-tolerance management of a software component is disclosed. A number of instances of the software component are executed in at least somewhat different execution environments. A local error susceptibility register and a global error susceptibility register are assigned to each software component. An error of first instance of the software component is detected. The local error susceptibility register of the first instance is updated based on the detected error and the content of the local error susceptibility register of the first instance. The global error susceptibility register of each instance is also updated based on the detected error and the content of the global error susceptibility register of each instance. The difference between the respective local error susceptibility register and the respective global error susceptibility register is determined, and the fault tolerance value of the software component in the respective execution environment is determined based on the determined difference.
