Methods for synchronizing an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) system including detection when a plurality of A-line scans obtained from reflected light of a cantilever scanning fiber within a probe oscillating along a scanning path that increases in amplitude over time are no longer being obtained at a point along the oscillating scanning path when the scanning fiber reaches a minimum speed, determining a value by which a phase angle of the oscillating scanning path is out of synchronization with the plurality of A-line scans, and adjusting a trigger clock for the obtaining the plurality of A-line scans based on the value.

An apparatus and methods to quantify the volume of urine in a human bladder with a limited number of acoustic beams is disclosed. In a first version a plurality of narrow ultrasound beams is transmitted in different directions towards the bladder. Returning echoes are converted to digital form and stored in memory. A volume display on the apparatus allows to define the optimal apposition of the transducer assembly. Signal processing software automatically determines the bladder Depth D and Height H and computes the volume of urine. In a second version, a single wide angle ultrasound beam transducer transmits ultrasounds signals at a fundamental frequency to quantify the urine volume. Return signals originating from a depth beyond the usual position of the posterior wall depth of a filled bladder are analyzed for presence of higher harmonic signals, which in turn are related to the presence or absence of urine.

Instantaneous ultrasonic echo measurement of bladder volume with a limited number of ultrasound beams

A sensor device for monitoring bioelectric data from a human body includes a flexible dielectric substrate, a plurality of sensors (electrodes) distributed on the substrate for sensing the bioelectric data, and an electrically conductive network distributed on the substrate connecting the sensors to a terminal portion of the substrate. Integrated flexible joints permit a certain amount of elasticity in and allow relative movement between at least two of the sensors when the sensor device is placed onto the human body.

A closed loop, optical feedback synchronization system provides real time feedback and control of a light emitting fiber when scanning or displaying an image. The light emitting fiber is driven by an actuator in an angular pattern to scan the image. Light reflected from a lens assembly is received by an optical synchronizer integrated circuit that includes a slot located between walls of the circuit. The reflected light is directed toward a multi-mode fiber in optical communication with the circuit. A radial position of the reflected light as it passes the slot may be used to compensate for a drift in angular velocity of the light emitting fiber.

Closed loop, optical feedback synchronization system for imaging applications

A system for connecting remote equipment to a sensor device having a connector coupled to at least two terminals located on different portions of the sensor device. The portions of the sensor device may be an anterior portion and a posterior portion with each having at least one terminal. In turn, the terminals are nested on top of one another and at least one terminal is electrically accessible through a window region of the other portion. Further, the terminals are alignable with each other and with a connector by alignment indicators, which may provide a visual alignment indication for the terminals as well as a mechanical alignment of the connector with the sensor device.

Systems and methods are described for acquiring, processing, and presenting boundaries of a cavity-tissue interface within a region-of-interest in an ultrasound image based upon the strength of signals of ultrasound echoes returning from structures within the region-of-interest. The segmentation of boundaries of cavity shapes occupying the region-of-interest utilizes cost function analysis of pixel sets occupying the cavity-tissue interface. The segmented shapes are further image processed to determine areas and volumes of the organ or structure containing the cavity within the region-of-interest.

System and method to identify and measure organ wall boundaries

An apparatus and methods to quantify the volume of urine in a human bladder with a limited number of acoustic beams is disclosed. In a first version the apparatus is composed of a transducers assembly that transmits a plurality of narrow ultrasound beams in different directions towards the bladder and receives the returning ultrasound signals; a receiver detector for processing the returned signals; an analog-to-digital converter; a memory to store the digitized data and a volume display allowing to define the optimal position of the transducer assembly. The apparatus also includes a signal processing software that automatically determines the bladder Depth D and Height H and computes the volume of urine using an empirical formula corrected by specific, empirically measured, filling dependant correction factors. In a second version a single wide angle ultrasound beam transducer transmitting ultrasound signals at fundamental frequency is used to quantify the urine volume. Return signals originating from a depth beyond the usual position of the posterior wall depth of a filled bladder are analyzed for presence of higher harmonic signals which in turn are related to presence or absence of urine. Both methods or a combination thereof can be used us a simple warning device for presence of residual urine after voiding or indicate the presence of a critical bladder urine filling level.

Ultrasound imaging systems and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, an ultrasonography method includes creating a database that is representative of a tissue, a fluid, or a cavity of a body, and transmitting ultrasound pulses into a region-of-interest in a patient. Echoes are received from the region of interest, and based upon the received echoes, compiling an ultrasonic pattern of the region-of-interest is compiled. The pattern is processed by comparing the region-of-interest patterns to the pattern information stored in the database. A composition within the region-of-interest of the patient is then determined.

Systems and methods for quantification and classification of fluids in human cavities in ultrasound images

Systems, methods, and devices for image clarity of ultrasound-based images are described wherein motion sections are compensated with the still sections of the region of interest. Velocity map analysis of regions-of-interest is determined to compensate for instrument motion from motions attributable to structures within the region of interest. Methods include image processing algorithms applied to collected echogenic data sets and the dispensers that use apply air-expunged sonic coupling mediums.

Systems and methods to improve clarity in ultrasound images

Systems, methods, and ultrasound transceivers equipped and configured to execute harmonic analysis and extract harmonic information related to a targeted organ of a subject are described. The methods utilize neural network algorithms to establish improved segmentation accuracy of the targeted organ or structures within a region-of-interest. The neural network algorithms, refined for detection of the bladder and to ascertain the presence or absence of a uterus, is optimally applied to better segment and thus confer the capability to optimize measurement of bladder geometry, area, and volumes.

System and method for bladder detection using harmonic imaging

Systems, methods, and ultrasound transceivers equipped and configured to execute analysis and extract ultrasound information related to an abdominal aortic aneurysm of a subject are described. The methods utilize algorithms to establish improved targeting of the abdominal aortic aneurysm within a region-of-interest. The targeting algorithms may be optimally applied to provide the user with real-time feedback and orientation guidance for positioning the transceiver. Additional methods utilize diameter conversion algorithms to establish the diameter of the abdominal aortic aneurysm based on conversion of the volume measurement and limited segmentation within a targeted region-of-interest of the aorta.
