A device for capturing and transmitting data of a bearing of a steel mill or rolling mill includes a sensor with a data processing unit arranged in a bearing housing capturing and storing data of a bearing. A data transmission unit in the bearing housing wirelessly transmits data of the sensor to a remote receiver. An energy receiving unit in the bearing housing receives energy wirelessly and transmits it to the data transmission unit and the data processing unit. An energy source with an energy transmitting unit arranged outside the bearing housing supply the energy unit wirelessly. The energy transmitting unit is covered by the bearing housing and is arranged on or in a structural part which adjoins the bearing housing and is part of the supporting structure of mill and remains on the supporting structure of the mill when the bearing housing is removed for maintenance purposes.

Capturing and transmitting data of a bearing of a steel mill or rolling mill

A casting of metal strip by continuous casting in a twin roll caster is provied. In a twin roll caster, molten metal is introduced between a pair of counter-rotated horizontal casting rolls that are cooled so that metal shells solidify on the moving roll surfaces. The twin roll caster is capable of continuously producing cast strip from molten steel through a sequence of ladles positioned on a turret. In casting thin strip by twin roll caster, the crown of the casting surfaces of the casting rolls varies during a casting campaign. The crown of the casting surfaces of the casting rolls in turn determines the strip thickness profile.

Apparatus and method for production of long metal products

A method is disclosed for continuously or semi-continuously producing hot steel strip which, starting from a slab guided through a slab-guiding device, is rolled in a roughing train having at least four-stands, the method comprising: casting a slab in a die, the slab being reduced to a thickness of between 60 and 95 mm in a liquid core reduction process by the adjoining slab-guiding device, a slab support length measured between the meniscus, i.e., the bath level, of the die and an end of the slab-guiding device facing the roughing train being between 12 m and 15.5 m, and a casting speed ranging from 3.8 to 7 m/min. The disclosed combination of casting parameters may ensure that the crater tip of the slab extends to the vicinity of the end of the slab-guiding device independently of the respective maximum casting speeds which are dependent on the particular grade of material.

Method and plant for the energy-efficient production of hot steel strip

A method is disclosed for continuously or semi-continuously producing hot steel strip which, starting from a slab guided through a slab-guiding device, is rolled in, for example, an at least four-stand roughing train to form an intermediate strip and, in a further sequence in a finish rolling train, into a final strip. The thickness of a slab cast in a die is reduced in the liquid core reduction process by means of the adjoining slab-guiding device to between 85 and 120 mm, a slab support length measured between the meniscus, i.e., the bath level, of the die and an end of the slab-guiding device facing the roughing train being at least 18.5 m, a casting speed ranging from 3.8 to 7 m/min, and slabs of different thicknesses being cast as a function of given casting speeds. Using the disclosed casting parameters, high-quality finishing may be provided with high production capacities.

Method and apparatus for preparing steel stock before hot rolling

A method and a device have high energy efficiency and high descaling performance, with which high-quality rolling stock can be produced. In a method in which the rolling stock is heated in an induction furnace and subsequently descaled, before the rolling stock is rolled in a rolling stand or rolling relay, the heated rolling stock is descaled by at least one rotating water jet from a rotary descaler; then at least one temperature of the descaled rolling stock is respectively recorded by a temperature measuring instrument and delivered to a controller; and the controller determines at least one control parameter with the aid of a control rule and by taking into account a setpoint temperature, and delivers it to a control component, at least one inductor of the induction furnace being driven so that the temperature of the descaled rolling stock corresponds as far as possible to the setpoint temperature.

A method and an apparatus for suppression of oscillations in a rolling installation is described. By means of a hydraulic roller engagement third-octave oscillations are effectively suppressed, thus making it possible to improve the quality of the rolled material and/or the productivity of the rolling installation. A bending device for two working rolls of a rolling stand. Guide blocks provided in lateral roll housings for guiding two pressure-transmission bodies vertically adjustably with respect to each other and, on which the working rolls are supported via chocks. Bending cylinders are arranged in pairs between the pressure-transmission bodies at each end of the rolls. Each cylinder has a piston rod acting on one pressure-transmission body and a cylinder at the respective other pressure-transmission body. Each pressure-transmission body is supported on a respective guide block in a sliding manner. So that loads acting on the pressure-transmission bodies can be introduced into the guide block free of edge pressure, the pressure-transmission bodies are supported on the respective guide blocks in a sliding manner by self-adjusting wearing plates which include surfaces that enable both sliding and pivoting of the bodies with respect to the guide blocks.

Bending device for two working rolls of a rolling stand

The invention relates to a method for producing a cast steel strip of preferably hot crack-sensitive or hot-brittle steel quality by means of a strip casting plant and to a strip casting plant for carrying out this method. In this case, steel melt is conducted into a melt space formed by two casting rolls and two sideplates, slab shells are formed in the melt space on cooled surface areas of the casting rolls and are brought together in the strip forming cross section between the casting rolls to form an at least partly solidified steel strip, the cast steel strip is then guided along the surface area of one of the two casting rolls from a vertical casting direction into an essentially horizontal transport direction, and the cast steel strip is supplied essentially horizontally on a transport device to a strip winding device and is wound there into a coil. In order in this case to minimize susceptibility to crack formation, the cast steel strip, during its transport movement along the surface area of one of the two casting rolls, is guided in a transport channel without the application of deformation forces influencing the strip thickness and is subjected in this region to strip cooling of less than 200 K/s.

Method for producing a cast steel strip

Processes for continuous production of a thin metal strip, in particular a steel hot strip, directly from a metal melt and with a strip cast thickness of &#x3c;10 mm by the roll-casting process. The cast metal strip is fed for in-line thickness reduction, and then to a storage device. To achieve a high-quality, hot-rolled metal strip with flatness tolerances comparable to those which can currently be achieved in the production of hot-rolled metal strip from continuous-cast thin slabs or slabs, at cast thicknesses of between 40 and 300 mm, in a continuous production process starting directly from metal melt. With the low strip cast thickness, a flatness measurement is performed on the moving metal strip, and the measurement results of this flatness measurement are used to influence the flatness of the metal strip in a targeted way.

Process and apparatus for the continuous production of a thin metal strip

The invention relates to a sequence casting process for producing a high-purity cast metal strand from a metal melt, the metal melt being fed in controlled fashion from a metal vessel to a tundish and being discharged in controlled fashion from this tundish into a continuous-casting mold, and the supply of the metal melt into the continuous-casting mold being continued without interruption. To allow a high-quality metal strand to be cast even during the change of melt vessel in this process, with the restart phase being kept as short as possible, it is proposed that during a period of time from the resumption of the supply of metal melt into the tundish until the point at which a quasi-steady operating bath level in the tundish is reached, the inflow rate into the tundish is greater than the outflow rate out of the tundish, and for 70% to 100% of this period the inflow rate into the tundish is less than or equal to double the outflow rate out of the tundish.
