An ice fishing device comprising a column member adapted to be supported in an upright position in an ice hole in an operative position, support means are pivotally mounted to the column member, adapted to span an ice hole and support the column member in an upright position. A reel is rotatably mounted to the column member and positioned thereon to be underwater when the column member is in an operative position. A flexible signal mast is attached to the column member at the upper end thereof, and is bendable essentially one hundred eighty degrees to an armed position and will spring upright when released from the armed position. A first bearing bracket is mounted to the column member at a lower position when said column member is in an operative position and a second bearing bracket is mounted to the column member at an upper position above water when said column member is in an operative position. The bearing brackets receive a sleeve there between and sealing means are provided in the bearing brackets at the ends of the sleeve. An actuator rod extends through the sealing means and is rotatable therein. The actuator rod has a crank at the end thereof adjacent the reel. An offset cam on the reel is adapted to engage the crank and rotate the actuator rod. The actuator rod has a signal mast engaging means at the upper end thereof engaging the free end of the signal mast and holding the signal mast in an, armed position. When rotated by pay-out of line from the reel the actuator rod will release the signal mast and permit it to spring back to a vertical position.

Ice fishing device

A mechanism useful as a slip clutch or brake which comprises a housing member having a shaft affixed thereto and extending from one end thereof and a ball at the other end thereof having a second shaft extending therefrom outwardly of the housing. The housing has a partial end wall with an opening therethrough for the second shaft and a friction material having a partially spherical surface in the housing and positioned against the partial end wall. The ball is seated against the partially spherical surface of the friction material and drives the housing therethrough, but will slip when a predetermined torque is exceeded. The ball is biased into engagement with the friction material whereby when one of the shafts is rotated, the other is driven through frictional engagement of the ball and the friction material. Where the mechanism is utilized as a brake, the shaft on the housing may be eliminated.

Mechanism useful as a slip clutch or brake

A catalystic converter includes an annular catalyst bed containing catalyst beads and defined by inner and outer coaxial perforated tubes. An outer shell coaxial with the catalyst bed defines a passage between the outer shell and the outer perforated tube. The passage is connected to an outlet port. Exhaust gas flows radially outward through the catalyst bed and then through the passage to the outlet port. Air is injected into the passage at a selected axial location and is drawn into the catalyst bed by the reciprocating action of the engine. As a result, the single catalyst bed has an inner zone with a scarcity of oxygen which reduces oxides of nitrogen and an outer zone with oxygen present. Unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide are oxidized in the outer zone.

Catalytic converter

An internal combustion engine exhaust gas catalytic converter has coaxial inner and outer louvered tubes which define an annular catalyst bed. An outer shell coaxial with the inner and outer louvered tubes define a portion of a gas flow path downstream from the catalytic bed. The downstream flow portion has an annular outlet of smaller cross sectional area than the cross-sectional area of the inlet end of an upstream portion of the flow path. Heat expandable means maintain a constant density of catalyst beads within the catalytic bed. These heat expandable means preferably comprise a composition of ceramic fibers, vermiculite and a binder.
