The rotating machine comprises a tubular housing; a drive shaft disposed at least partly inside the tubular housing; a component disposed inside of the tubular housing that is coupled to the drive shaft and configured to do work as the drive shaft rotates; and a shaft stop assembly coupled to the drive shaft comprising a collet disposed around the drive shaft, a compressor flange disposed around the collet and around the drive shaft and engaging with the collet to compress the collet to form a friction fit with the drive shaft, and a compression stop disposed around the compressor flange and around the drive shaft, wherein a first axial end of the compression stop abuts an end of the collet.

The ESP assembly comprises an electric motor having a first drive shaft; a seal section having a second drive shaft that is coupled to the first drive shaft; a third drive shaft that is coupled to the second drive shaft; and an axial flow centrifugal pump stage, wherein the centrifugal pump stage comprises an impeller coupled to the third drive shaft and a diffuser, wherein the impeller defines a plurality of impeller vanes attached between an impeller hub and an impeller shroud, wherein the impeller shroud is a straight-walled cylindrical shape, wherein the diffuser defines a plurality of diffuser vanes attached between a diffuser hub and a diffuser shroud, and wherein the diffuser shroud is a straight-walled cylindrical shape.

High volume axial flow electric submersible pump (ESP) pump stage

A submersible pump assembly. The submersible pump assembly comprises a motor comprising a first drive shaft; a seal section comprising a second drive shaft that is coupled to the first drive shaft of the motor; and a centrifugal pump assembly comprising a third drive shaft that is coupled to the second drive shaft of the seal section and a plurality of pump stages, wherein each pump stage comprises an impeller coupled to the third drive shaft and a diffuser retained by a housing of the centrifugal pump assembly, wherein the diffuser of each pump stage comprises a first plurality of vanes each having a first axial length and a second plurality of vanes each disposed between a pair of vanes of the first plurality of vanes and each having a second axial length, wherein the second axial length is less than the first axial length.
