Disclosed is a process for pretreatment of hydrocarbon feed containing sulfur and nitrogen compounds and aromatics prior to hydrocracking or fluid catalytic cracking which comprises:

A sulfided carbon support catalyst bearing (i) a non-noble Group VIII metal, (ii) a Group VI-B metal, and (iii) a metal of Group IA, II A, III-B, or the lanthanide Group of rare earths.

Hydrotreating of cracked naphtha

A method of selectively hydrodenitrogenating various raw hydrocarbon oils such as various petroleum feedstocks, coal liquids, shale oils and sand oils, which method comprises passing the raw hydrocarbon oil along with hydrogen (H.sub.2) over sulfided carbon supported Fe-Mo catalysts, whereby the raw hydrocarbon oil is hydrodenitrogenated with a selectivity significantly higher than that is possible with conventional alumina supported hydrotreating catalysts.

Hydrodesulfurization of cracked naphtha, with minimum attendant hydrogenation of olefins, is effected over a sulfided carbon support catalyst bearing (i) a non-noble Group VIII metal, (ii) a Group VI-B metal, and (iii) a metal of Group IA, II A, III B, or the lanthanide Group of rare earths.

Naphtha is selectively hydrodesulfurized using spent resid upgrading catalyst to remove sulfur while minimizing loss in octane level due to olefin saturation.

Selective hydrodesulfurization of naphtha using deactivated

A process of preparing a catalyst for removal of sulfur and nitrogen in hydro-processing of hydrocarbon streams. The catalyst composition is formed by depositing molybdenum or tungsten. A second metal is deposited on the support layer in a non-aqueous fashion. The second metal being vandium, niobium or tantalum in organic solvent soluble metal alkoxide form. A third metal of nickel or cobalt is deposited and calcined on the support layer.

Process for preparing a catalyst for removal of hydroprocessing

A catalyt composition for removal of sulfur and nitrogen in the hydroprocessing refinery of hydrocarbon streams. The composition comprises supported molybdenum or tungsten and containing cobalt or nickel. In addition, the presence of a third metal selected from the group consisting of titaniun, zirconium, and hafnium, deposited in a non-aqueous fashion, is provided.
