A piston-cylinder unit includes a piston rod guided axially in a cylinder, a support disk fixed to the piston rod, a mounting element fixed to the support disk, and a protective sleeve which can be threaded over the mounting element. The protective sleeve has an end wall with an aperture profiled to receive the mounting element therethrough as the protective sleeve is fitted to the support disk, the protective sleeve being rotatable relative to the mounting element when fitted to the support disk, the mounting element having an axial support surface which can be positioned axially above the end wall to retain the protective sleeve.

A piston rod and a piston are installed with freedom of axial movement in a cylinder filled with a working medium, the piston dividing the working space into a space on the piston-rod side of the piston and a space on the side of the piston facing away from the piston rod. A stop disk is mounted on the piston rod in addition to the piston rests against a retainer provided on the cylinder to limit the outward movement of the piston rod during a fire.

A piston ring includes a lateral surface which covers a circumferential surface of a piston and support segments with retaining surfaces which engage with the top and bottom of the piston. A piston ring joint allows the piston ring to be elastically deformed in the radial direction and is provided with a tongue at one end of the lateral surface, which tongue engages in an opening in the other end of the lateral surface. The tongue is designed with retaining segments which extend in the circumferential direction and continue as extensions of the support segments. The retaining segments engage supportively with the top and bottom of the piston. The opening is provided with carrier segments at least in certain areas of the circumference of the piston ring extensions of the support segments and holding the ends of the piston ring in place axially with respect to the piston, the carrier segments being supported in the axial direction of the piston on the retaining segments. The piston ring joint of the piston ring has at least one sealing surface between the ends of the piston ring.

Piston ring

A piston ring for the piston of a vibration damper includes a jacket and supporting segments connected to the jacket with holding surfaces. The supporting segments are supported axially on an upper side and a lower side of the piston by the holding surfaces. The piston ring has a seal carrier in which at least one seal is embedded, wherein the seal is oriented toward the piston proceeding from the seal carrier.

Piston-cylinder unit comprising a cylinder in which a work space is filled with a work medium and which is limited by a closure and is sealed by at least one seal. The closure is fixed axially by a positive engagement with the cylinder up to a temperature threshold and the closure can carry out an axial movement for relieving pressure above the temperature threshold. A cutting device cancels the sealing function of the seal during the axial movement of the closure for relieving pressure.

Damping valve for a shock absorber includes a damping valve body with at least one valve seat surface for a valve disk which is loaded in the lifting direction by a flow of damping medium. At least one support disk arranged on the valve disk determines, by its contour, a lever arm up to an effective surface to which pressure is applied by a damping medium in the lifting direction, and this support disk is pretensioned in direction of the valve disk by a tensioning plate, wherein the damping valve body forms a line of tensioning with the valve disk, support disk and tensioning plate, wherein at least one of the contact surfaces within the line of tensioning is profiled, so that there is a contact circle at the support disk, and the radius of the contact circle matches the provided reference dimension for the contour of the support disk determining the lever arm length. The profile contains a free cut that accommodates any inaccuracies in the shape of the structural component parts contained in the line of tensioning.

Piston ring including a covering surface which covers a circumferential surface of a piston, and supporting segments having retaining surfaces which engage the upper and lower sides of the piston. The piston ring has a butt joint which enables the piston ring to be elastically deformable radially, the butt joint being designed at one end of the covering surface with at least one tongue which engages in a cutout in the other end of the covering surface. The tongue is designed with at least one retaining segment which runs in the circumferential direction and engages in a supporting manner in each case on the upper and lower side of the piston.

Switching valve with a valve body, which separates two working spaces filled with a fluid. The valve body has pass-through openings which are covered except for an inlet cross-section, where the inlet cross-section is controlled by a switching disk as a function of the direction of flow in the switching valve. Between the switching disk and the inlet cross-section, at least one spacer disk is provided, which has at least one opening, which communicates with the inlet cross-section, where the opening has a larger two-dimensional area than the inlet cross-section.

Damping-valve body, in particular for a piston-cylinder unit filled with damping fluid, having separate passages for two directions of flow, at least some of the passages having an outlet opening that is at least partially covered by at least one valve disk. Each passage has a rib that extends radially, relative to a first direction of flow of the damping fluid, from a boundary wall of the passage and bears a valve support surface for the at least one valve disk.

Disclosed is a vibration damper with a damping valve having a reversing valve. The reversing valve has valve body having at least one passage opening with a cross section therein; a valve plate at least partially covering the passage opening and a reversing plate having at least one meandering shaped recess in the vicinity of the cover surface, and a circumferential section, wherein the recess has a starting point and an end point which bound the circumferential section the reversing plate is adapted to control the cross section of the passage opening as a function of flow direction. The valve includes a spring section extending in a circumferential direction and having at least one cover surface and a clamping surface which prestresses the reversing plate outside of the spring section and clamping surface against the reversing valve. The cover surface is aligned with the passage opening, and the circumferential section bounds the spring section.

A sheet-metal piston rod guide for a piston-cylinder unit in which a piston rod is axially movable, includes a slide bush which is centered by a guide sleeve which adjoins a closure ring which delimits the working chamber and in turn merges into an axial casing. The axial casing centers the entire piston rod guide. A piston rod seal surrounds the piston rod and seals the working chamber. The guide sleeve is supported in the axial and radial directions against a bearing ring which bears the piston rod seal and extends in the radial direction. The bearing ring has a radial support surface with respect to the casing so that the casing, the closure ring, the guide sleeve, and the bearing ring form a force bearing arrangement which is closed with regard to the bearing of forces.

A piston for a piston-cylinder unit comprises a piston body having passages which connect two spaces in a cylinder on opposing sides of the piston. The passages are covered by at least one valve disk which is centered relative to a center of the piston by a centering sleeve. A spring element is arranged between the piston body and the centering sleeve. This spring element, when mounted, spaces the centering element from the piston body and accordingly displaces the useful range of the centering element until the piston is assembled in its entirety and every structural component part of the piston occupies its intended position.

A reversing valve having a valve body which separates two working spaces which are filled with a fluid. Passage openings are arranged in the valve body and are covered at least partially by a number of valve plates. The cross sectional passage of the passage openings is controlled by a reversing plate as a function of the direction of flow. The reversing plate has spring sections which extend in the circumferential direction and at least one cover surface. The at least one cover surface is aligned with at least one passage opening. The spring sections of the reversing plate are supported on a securing plate.

A piston-cylinder unit for a hydropneumatic suspension system of a vehicle having a fluid-filled cylinder in which a piston having damping valves and connected to a piston rod is axially movable. The piston rod runs axially in a piston rod guide at the piston-rod exit of the cylinder and is sealed toward the outside by means of a piston rod seal. A spring surrounding the piston rod is in mounted between a first support part attached to the cylinder and a second support part attached to either the piston rod or a vehicle-fixed part. The spring, which interacts with an axially adjustable support part, can be lifted off one of the support parts. During compression of the piston-cylinder unit, the first and second support parts begin compression of the spring at the functional point of the compression. The functional point is adjustable in a predetermined position range by an adjustment device.

Piston-cylinder unit installed between a vehicle body and wheel guide

A method for manufacturing a piston, wherein the piston includes a piston body with through-channels for fluid which are covered by valve disks on supporting bodies with valve support surfaces. The piston body is constructed in one piece in a disk-shaped manner by press stamping. Starting from a base body of the piston, the raised areas of the piston body on one side of the piston are formed as depressions on the axially opposite side. The piston has at least one support for the valve disks whose axial height is adapted to the height of the support surfaces. The support on both sides of the piston is stamped from the base body of the piston and the valve support surfaces and the support are machined in the same manufacturing step on a common plane.
