A broadband absorber for absorbing a broad spectrum of incident microwave radiation is provided comprising a plurality of strips of inductive absorbing material having magnetic particles dispersed throughout an organic binder; the width, thickness, and composition of the strips being selected such that each strip absorbs a specific region of the microwave spectrum. The plurality of strips of absorbing material are supported by a substrate that is electrically conductive to microwave radiation. The substrate has a plurality of grooves and ridges in a repeating pattern, the grooves being of varying depths. A facing sheet, electrically transparent to microwave radiation, is provided for coupling the incident microwave radiation to the plurality of strips of inductive absorbing material.

Broadband microwave absorber

A structurally-embedded electronics assembly is disclosed and includes an outer skin member which is lightly loaded structurally, a primary load-carrying member positioned inboard from the outer skin member, a core member positioned between the primary load-carrying member and the outer skin member, an intermediate skin member positioned between the outer skin member and the core member and an electronics structure positioned between a predetermined two of the members or intermingled with a predetermined number of the members set forth above which are adjacent each other. In another embodiment, a thermally conductive baseplate member is positioned inboard from the primary load-carrying member. In another embodiment, a vibration damping member is positioned inboard from the primary load-carrying member.

Structurally-embedded electronics assembly

A material and process for preparing corrosion resistant reflective material. The process in the preferred embodiment comprises abrading a metal substrate, anodizing the metal substrate, depositing a thin film of substantially pure metal on the anodized substrate, and covering the reflective metal with a protective organic coating. The material produced is a metallic substrate having an anodized layer with a relatively thin film of reflective metal covered by a protective organic coating.
