The present invention provides a suspension for a conveyance that is capable of traversing obstacles and rough terrain. The suspension includes a frame, a pivot arm, a front caster, a drive assembly and a rear caster. The pivot arm and the drive assembly are coupled and decoupled based on movement of the drive assembly.

The suspension includes a frame, a pivot arm, a front caster, a drive assembly and a rear caster. The pivot arm substantially remains in a first position when the drive assembly moves in a first direction. Movement of the drive assembly in a second direction urges the pivot arm away from the first position.

The present invention provides a suspension for a conveyance that is capable of traversing obstacles and rough terrain. In this regard, the suspension has a frame member and a pivoting assembly. The pivoting assembly has a pivot arm and a drive assembly. The pivot arm is pivotally coupled to the frame and has a first engagement surface. The drive assembly is pivotally coupled to the frame and has a second engagement surface configured to engage the first engagement surface. The second engagement surface is further configured to disengage from the first engagement surface upon pivotal movement of the drive assembly in a first direction and to re-engage the first engagement surface upon pivotal movement of the drive assembly in a second direction.

Wheelchair suspension having pivotal motor mount

A three-wheeled scooter having a two part frame assembly defined by first and second frames. The frame assembly uses a mechanical couple to transfer forces through the periphery of the frames. A spring biased pin in the first frame cooperates with apertures in the second frame to lock the frame assembly together. A safety member maintains the pin in a locked position.

Power driven vehicle

A wheel chair (A) has at least one wheel (50) rotatably mounted to a side frame (14). A combined wheel lock and hill holder assembly (D) is mounted adjacent an outermost peripheral surface of a tire (60) mounted to a rim (58) of the wheel. The wheel lock and hill holder assembly has a linkage including a handle member (74) and a brake lever (80) both pivotally connected to the base. A link (84) is pivotally connected in between. Shifting the handle member causes the brake lever to move an axle (90) toward and away from the peripheral surface of the tire. A cam surface (94) having a plurality of projections (102) is rotatably mounted on the axle. In a first mode (FIG. 3), the wheel is free rolling. In a second mode (FIG. 4), the cam surface is moved by the handle into firm friction engagement with the tire peripheral surface to lock the wheel against any rotation. In a third mode (FIG. 5), the cam surface is spring biased into engagement with the wheel such that rotation in one direction is permitted but rotation in the opposite direction causes increasing engagement between the cam and the tire peripheral surface locking the wheel against rotation in that direction.
