An orifice introducer device for introducing, for example a surgical device, into, for example an orifice of a body, includes a tubular member having a distal end and a proximal end. The distal end is adjustable between a first position for insertion into an orifice and a second position once inserted into the orifice. Alternatively, the orifice introducer device includes a distal portion having a proximal end configured to be detachably secured to the distal end of the tubular member. The distal portion is selectively detachable when the orifice introducer device is positioned in the orifice.

An orifice introducer device for introducing, e.g., a surgical device, into, e.g., an orifice of a body, includes a tubular member having a distal end and a proximal end. The distal end is adjustable between a first position for insertion into an orifice and a second position once inserted into the orifice. Alternatively, the orifice introducer device includes a distal portion having a proximal end configured to be detachably secured to the distal end of the tubular member. The distal portion is selectively detachable when the orifice introducer device is positioned in the orifice.

Apparatus and methods for treatment of stroke are provided. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention disposes at least one catheter having a distal occlusive member in either the common carotid artery (CCA) or both the vertebral artery (VA) and the CCA on the hemisphere of the cerebral occlusion. Blood flow in the opposing carotid and/or vertebral arteries may be inhibited. Retrograde or antegrade flow may be provided through either catheter independently to effectively control cerebral flow characteristics. Under such controlled flow conditions, a thrombectomy device may be used to treat the occlusion, and any emboli generated are directed into the catheter(s).

Apparatus and methods for treating stroke and controlling cerebral flow characteristics

Apparatus and methods for treating cerebral occlusions are provided, including a thrombectomy device having at least one deployable element. The deployable element is advanced through the occlusion in a contracted state, then self-deploys distal of the occlusion or, alternatively, may be deployed to a wide range of configurations using a physician-actuated deployment knob. The thrombectomy device then may be retracted to cause the deployable element to snare the occlusion, and/or rotated circumferentially to cause the fibrin strands of the occlusion to be wrapped around the deployable element.

Mechanical thrombectomy device for use in cerebral vessels

Apparatus and methods for treatment of stroke are provided. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention disposes at least one catheter having a distal occlusive member in the common carotid artery of the hemisphere of the cerebral occlusion. Retrograde flow may be provided through the catheter to effectively control cerebral flow characteristics. Under such controlled flow conditions, a thrombectomy device may be used to treat the occlusion, and any emboli generated are directed into the catheter.

The present invention is directed to apparatus and methods for treating a vascular occlusion by providing an infusion catheter having an atraumatic tip and at least one delivery port configured to infuse fluid into the occlusion. The fluid that is infused dilutes the occlusion and reduces adhesion of the occlusion to an intima of the vessel wall, thereby causing the occlusion to dislodge. Emboli generated in the process are directed into an emboli removal catheter for removal.

A prosthesis is provided comprising a plurality of telescoping tubular members that are deployed and assembled in vivo to define a lumen through a diseased portion of a vascular system. The individual tubular members are capable of accommodating torsional and longitudinal displacements caused by relative motion of the healthy portions on either side of the diseased portion of vessel.

An endovascular catheter for use in PTA, PTCA and other endovascular procedures has a bifurcated distal end with two branches. Each catheter branch may be guided into a separate vessel branch, and endovascular devices such as balloons, stents, stent grafts, or grafts may be precisely deployed in bifurcated vessels. Separate endovascular devices may be deployed in either vessel branch or the vessel trunk or an integral device may be simultaneously deployed in both branches and the trunk.

A pressure generator for intravascular dilators includes a ram and a syringe holder. A screw drive having a large mechanical advantage is coupled for advancing the ram at a controlled rate. A coupler at one end of the ram is adapted to engage one end of a syringe plunger whereby dilation liquid will be discharged at a controlled pressure from the syringe as the ram is advanced. The pressure generator may be provided with a pistol grip and the ram may be calibrated for direct pressure readout.
