The present invention is an apparatus and method for improving the detection of the inductance 'signal' generated by an inductive plethysmograph (12). Signal detection is improved by modifying the design of the inductive plethysmograph (12) and also by improving the design of the associated circuitry. By virtue of these improvements, the associated circuitry may be located remotely rather than on the transducer, as is the current practice. In one aspect of the invention, the impedance matching transformer (14) joining the inductive plethysmograph (12) to the oscillator (16) is selected such that the inductance of its primary winding is greater than about ten times the reflected inductance of the inductive plethysmograph (12) and the cable (24) joining it to the transformer (14). In accordance with another aspect of the invention, the inductive plethysmograph (12) is modified such that the conductor (20) incorporated therein encircles the relevant body portion a plurality of times. In yet a further aspect of the invention, the cable (24) connecting the inductive plethysmograph (12) to the transformer (14) is selected such that the ratio of the diameter of its screen to the diameter of its center conductor is minimized for reducing the inductance per unit length thereof.

Inductive plethysmographic transducers and electronic circuitry therefor

A gun barrel cleaner comprises an elongated flexible shaft having a universal coupling secured to each opposite end and several different cleaning tips selectively threadably and detachably engageable with either universal coupling. One cleaning tip, a gun barrel bore obstruction remover, comprises a cylindrical body portion having a concave face at one end and securing means at the other end for attaching the tip to the shaft. A compact cylindrical container for storing and conveniently transporting the gun barrel cleaner is provided. In addition, an improved method of attaching a cleaning patch to a gun barrel cleaning tip having a patch receiving slot is provided.

An implement for a tractor is provided with a height adjusting mechanism, including a control lever swingable in a horizontal plane about a fixed vertical axis and operably coupled with an articulate linkage for translating the horizontal swinging of the lever to vertical movement of the implement without creating a force moment thereacross. The articulate linkage spans a pivotal coupling between the main frame of the implement and a mounting bracket secured to the tractor such that the linkage operates to swing the bracket and frame toward and away from one another causing the pivotal coupling to move up and down. A belt drive on the implement is maintained in constant, substantially uniform tension by a shiftable idler pulley operably coupled with the control lever for automatic belt-tension adjustment in response to raising and lowering of the implement.
