An assemlby for depressurizing an opened beverage bottle including a bottle closure having a valve to permit depressurization of the bottle by a removable pump assembly. The pump assembly includes a stretchable diaphragm having roller being moveable on tracks within a housing. A pivotal actuator stretches the diaphragm to cause expansion of diaphragm chamber and effect depressurization of the bottle through the closure valve.

A device for maintaining effervescence of a beverage within a container having a body for attachment to the container and a snap cap pivotally mounted on the body. A squeezable bulb provide a source of air pressure to the container. A pair of valve assemblies control air flow to permit pressurization and maintainence of pressure within the container.

An article storage system capable of being suspended and having two vertical rows of article receiving compartments having side access openings. Lower brackets are affixed to flexible strips to allow the article storage system to be hung under tension in conjunction with upper brackets. Rods are provided adjacent the side access openings to rigidize the article receiving compartments.

A knife and scissors sharpener with a guard for the former. The scissors sharpener has an opening for each blade of the scissors with a cylindrical sharpening stone extending across them. The stone may rotate about an axis perpendicular to the openings to allow its positioning parallel to the cutting edges of the scissors to effectuate the sharpening of the blades. A spring normally keeps the cylindrical stone in one position, but the force exerted on the scissors' handles will cause the stone to move to its proper orientation. The knife sharpener employs two tungsten carbide sharpening elements crossed to form two V's. The sharpening elements in one V have a configuration for effectuating knife sharpening. In the other V, the elements will hone a previously sharpened knife blade. A circular disk holds the crossed sharpening elements in the handle. Rotating the holder 180.degree. permits a change between the sharpener and the honer. A guard attaches to the holder and can rotate between opened and closed positions. In the open position, it permits the use of the sharpener and honer. To use either of these involves holding the edge of the entire mechanism on a surface. In its open configuration, the guard drops down and protects the surface from a knife undergoing sharpening. In its closed position, it rotates up against the holder so that it will occupy minimal additional space.

A fountain attachment for a faucet, comprising a tubular body of rigid plastic material, a closure member of rigid plastic material hinged to the short rear wall of the tubular body and adapted to be pivoted to cover its inclined outlet end, a fountain spout formed in the long front wall of the tubular body with an inclined passage terminating at its upper end in an upwardly directed spout opening and terminating at its lower end within the tubular body, and a tubular insert of yieldable plastic material disposed inside the tubular body, with its top end disposed within the top end of the tubular body and spaced therefrom by an annular gap and adapted for frictional fit with a faucet, the tubular insert further having a mid section supported within the tubular body and a bottom end comprising a sealing flange extending beyond the bottom end of the tubular body, the sealing flange providing a seal with the closure member when the closure member is pivoted to cover the outlet end of the tubular body.

A self-closing bag holder has first and second resilient clamp plates which are connected by hinges on opposite ends to permit the clamp plates to bend outwardly with respect to each other. The hinged clamp plate assembly provides an expandable collar for supporting a plastic bag in an upright orientation. The sidewall of the plastic bag is fitted through the collar and is folded about the clamp plates in an open mouth configuration. The bag sidewall is secured to the bag holder by spikes formed on opposite ends of the clamp plates, and also by the interlocking union of a mounting bracket and handle assembly. Self-closure is provided by the resilient clamp plates which retract into engagement with each other upon release.

A foldable rack includes a load platform and side frame assembly for storing newspapers and magazines in a vertical stack. The load platform is coupled to the side frame assembly for rotation and retraction from an extended, load-bearing support position to a retracted, collapsed storage position in which the load platform is in substantial alignment with the side frame assembly. Rotation, extension and retraction of the load platform relative to the side frame assembly is accommodated by coupling pins which project from opposite sides of the load platform and which are received within longitudinal slots formed in the sidebars. The side frame assembly is stabilized by a pair of struts which are pivotally attached to the load platform and to the side frame assembly by semicylindrical clasps. The rack is foldable for compact, minimum profile storage by disengaging the clasps from the upper crossbar, and thereafter rotating the struts into alignment with the load platform while retracting the load platform into alignment with the side frame assembly.
