An externally threaded screw-type self-tapping dental implant includes: two or more external cutting grooves, at least one/one set that cuts in clockwise rotation of the implant, and at least one/another set, that cuts in counterclockwise rotation of the implant; and an internal passage in the implant that includes internal wrench-engaging surfaces and internal threads.

A screw-type endosseous dental implant includes, near the top on its external surface, a ridge projecting laterally and an internally-threaded shaft with a lead-in, beveled opening, an internal wrench-engaging surface located below the lead-in, beveled opening and below the internal wrench-engaging surface and above the internal threads, an internal undercut/groove creating a chamber formed to receive a snap attachment for retention of an over-denture.

Endosseous dental implants tapered over at least part of their length, include two separate portions, a shorter proximal region with half the distance and half the depth between adjacent peaks of multiple lead threads as the longer distal region which has half the number of multiple lead threads as in the proximal region.

An endosseous dental implants include a flared implant extender with an internal passage and with an unthreaded external surface that tapers downwardly from the proximal end of the extender toward its distal end that has a size and shape appropriate to cover the top surface of the implant.

Endosseous dental implants include an at least partly, externally-threaded body portion, an internal cavity or shaft with an opening to the cavity or shaft at the top surface of the implant, and, in the internal cavity or shaft, a threaded portion, and a two part interlock chamber contiguous to said threaded portion including multi-lobed surfaces in a first part, and a plurality of lobes, slots or grooves in a second part.

A multi-part abutment for use with an endosseous dental implant includes a first part with a tapered portion at its proximal end adapted to accept a dental restoration and an optional transfer cap, a distally-positioned external multi-lobed or other wrench-engaging portion, an inwardly-projecting non-circular bevel extending partly or entirely around the first part, connecting the proximal and wrench-engaging portions. The first part has an internal through passage with an internal projection or threads or both. The second abutment part, a screw, has a proximal region to engage the internal projection(s) or threads or both of the first part, and a threaded shank to engage internal threads in an endosseous dental implant.

Root-form, endosseous dental implants for insertion into an opening in the jawbone of a patient include a body portion, a neck and/or neck/abutment portion above the body portion, and an internally-threaded shaft; a separate optional implant extender for placement atop the implant with a top surface that mimics the top surface of the implant, and includes a longitudinal passage that receives a healing screw, and a healing screw with a threaded distal end portion to pass through the longitudinal passage, engage the internal threads of the implant and hold the extender to the implant, or to cover the opening to the internally-threaded shaft of the implant where the optional extender is omitted.

A multi-part abutment adapted for use with dental implants such as cylindrical-shaped endosseous dental implants having an internal opening or passage with an internal, non-circular shape at the top, either internally or externally, includes part one that engages the opening or passage in, or projection at the top, of the implant at the distal end of part one, and fits into abutment part two, at the top end of part one. Part two has at its distal end a multi-sided cavity that interdigitates with a multi-sided periphery or other connector on part one so that part two can be placed in a plurality of positions over part one. At the top end of part two is a prosthesis-engaging or prosthesis-forming projection which may be at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the implant, or lie on the longitudinal axis of the implant. Internal passages inside the two abutment parts are colinear when joined to one another in their intended configuration, permitting the use of a single fastener to join the two abutment parts to one another and to the dental implant, with part two covering part one and forming a sealed margin with the top of the implant.

One-piece, root-form, endosseous dental implants include, in a single implant, a body portion for insertion into an opening in the jawbone of a patient, a neck portion above the body portion, and an abutment portion above the neck portion. The abutment portion includes a peripheral shoulder and an opening into an internally-threaded shaft. The implant may also include internal or external wrench-engaging surfaces.
