A foldable radiator assembly includes a flexible dielectric substrate structure having a radiator conductor pattern formed therein. The flexible substrate structure can be flexible for movement between a folded position and a deployed position, or can be fixed in position by dielectric structures. An excitation circuit excites the radiator conductor pattern with RF energy. Strips of the radiator assemblies can be used to form an array aperture.

Radiator structures

Methods of fabricating air-filed true-time-delay, continuous transverse stub array antenna. A plurality of extruded sections that are physically independent of one another are fabricated. The plurality of extruded sections are arranged in a predefined pattern defining the structure of the array antenna. Adjacent surfaces of the extruded sections form waveguides of the array antenna. The plurality of extruded sections are joined together at their respective ends to form the array antenna. The plurality of extruded sections may be joined using a plurality of end plates. The plurality of extruded sections and end plates may comprise metal or plastic. If the extruded sections are plastic, they are metallized using a process such as vacuum deposition, electroless plating, or lamination during the extrusion process. The end plates are sealed to the extruded sections to form the array antenna structure.

Method of fabricating a true-time-delay continuous transverse stub array antenna

An RF interconnect between an airline circuit including a dielectric substrate having a conductor trace formed on a first substrate surface and an RF circuit separated from the airline circuit by a separation distance. The RF interconnect includes a compressible conductor structure having an uncompressed length exceeding the separation distance, and a dielectric sleeve structure surrounding at least a portion of the uncompressed length of the compressible conductor structure. The RF interconnect structure is disposed between the substrate and the RF circuit such that the compressible conductor is placed under compression between the substrate and the RF circuit. Examples of the RF circuit include a vertical coaxial transmission line or a grounded coplanar waveguide circuit disposed in parallel with the airline circuit.

Vertical interconnect between coaxial or GCPW circuits and airline via compressible center conductors

An RF interconnect between a rectangular coaxial transmission line including a coaxial center conductor and a dielectric structure with a rectilinear cross-sectional configuration fitted around the coaxial center conductor and an RF circuit separated from the airline circuit by a separation distance. The RF interconnect includes a compressible conductor structure having an uncompressed length exceeding the separation distance, and a dielectric sleeve structure surrounding at least a portion of the uncompressed length of the compressible conductor structure. The RF interconnect structure is disposed between the rectangular coaxial transmission line and the RF circuit such that the compressible conductor is placed under compression between the substrate and the RF circuit. Examples of the RF circuit include a vertical coaxial transmission line or a grounded coplanar waveguide circuit disposed in parallel with the center conductor of the rectangular coaxial transmission line.

Vertical interconnect between coaxial and rectangular coaxial transmission line via compressible center conductors

A RF precision calibration standard kit and calibration technique for &ldquo;slotline&rdquo; or slot transmission line for a network analyzer. The calibration standard kit establishes an accurate, repeatable reference plane at the slotline transmission interface. The calibration standard kit includes first and second coaxial to slot transmission line adapters, each adapter defining an adapter slot transmission line and having a slot connection port connected to an connection end of the slot transmission line and a coaxial connection coupled to the adapter slot transmission line. The kit further includes an offset component defining a section of slot transmission line, and a shorting plate. The first and second adapters, the offset component and the shorting plate are each adapted for connection to each other in a plurality of calibration configurations, including configurations for conducting Through, Reflection and Line measurements.

Slotline calibration standard kit for network analyzer and calibration method using same

A very low reflection transition with tightly controlled variability between a rectangular coaxial transmission line and a microstrip transmission line. The microstrip ground plane is extended under the transition region to form the transition ground plane. The upper portion of the dielectric of the rectangular coaxial transmission line is removed at the transition region, together with the upper portion of the center conductor. The spacing between the transition center conductor and the ground plane is reduced in relation to the spacing between the rectangular coaxial line center conductor and outer conductive shield. A tuning cavity is formed in the transition ground plane beneath the transition center conductor.

High uniformity microstrip to modified-square-ax interconnect

A hand-held inductive charger having concentric windings for transferring electrical power across a dielectric medium using magnetic induction. The charger comprises a removable primary coil assembly having a housing with a primary core disposed therein, and a primary winding protruding from the primary core. An electrical cable coupled to the primary winding that is adapted to couple power thereto from a power source. A secondary coil assembly having a receptacle housing is also provided, and a secondary core is disposed in the receptacle housing, and first and second concentric secondary windings are disposed in the secondary core. The first and second concentric secondary windings are coupled to a battery of an automobile. The first and second concentric secondary windings have a gap therebetween that is adapted to receive the primary winding therein. The primary and secondary coil assemblies form a transformer when their respective windings are mated. The charger allows an electric vehicle to be charged safely without any type of conventional electrical plug. The charger thus provides a safe, convenient and weatherproof mechanism for coupling power from a voltage source to an electric vehicle to recharge its propulsion battery. Approximately 6000 watts has been transferred through an embodiment of the charger having a volume of 25.8 cubic inches, yielding a power density of 230 Watts/cubic inch.

Hand-held inductive charger having concentric windings

A weatherized curb-side battery charging system that provides a mechanism for transferring electrical power to an electric vehicle to recharge its battery. The battery charging system includes a housing that is disposed on a wall or is slidably attached to a track mounted to a ceiling, for example A retractable charging device is coupled to a power supply and mates with a receptacle device disposed in the vehicle. A variety of charging devices that may be employed in the battery charging system are disclosed. Electronic circuitry controls power supplied to the vehicle from the power supply of the charging system. In addition, an interface circuit is provided that allows a user to enter a code to use the system and that provides an identification for billing purposes, or a credit card type key that activates the system and performs the same functions. A fan is provided for cooling purposes that causes an air flow through the system. The curb-side charging system thus permits an operator of an electric vehicle to charge its battery in a convenient manner. The battery charging system allows an electric vehicle to be charged safely without any type of conventional electrical plug. The battery charging system provides a safe, convenient and weatherproof mechanism for coupling power from a power source to an electric vehicle to recharge its battery.

Wall/ceiling mounted inductive charger

A solid state high power microwave amplifier module. The module incorporates a stacked assembly of integrated low temperature cofired ceramic substrates forming a monolithic structure containing all the microwave circuitry required to combine the output power of a large number of monolithic microwave integrated circuit power amplifier chips, a heatsink and a power supply. One substrate defines an input radial power divider circuit for dividing the input signal into input signals for each power amplifier chip. The second substrate includes the power amplifier chips and a radial combiner circuit. The output of the combiner to coupled to an output waveguide in the heatsink. The module is lightweight and small in size, and of high reliability since the number of wire bonds is greatly reduced since most of the microwave circuitry and connections can be formed as part of the integrated structure.
