A building management system (BMS) includes one or more memory devices having instructions stored thereon. When executed by one or more processors, the instructions cause the processors to perform operations including ingesting semantic information associated with a plurality of BMS objects, classifying the plurality of BMS objects into a plurality of predetermined classifications that pertain to the plurality of BMS objects using the semantic information, updating a semantic site model for a building site by including at least one of the semantic information associated with the plurality of BMS objects or the plurality of predetermined classifications that pertain to the plurality of BMS objects, and adjusting a plurality of parameters associated with the plurality of BMS objects using the semantic site model.

Building management system with semantic model integration

Sensorized commercial buildings are a rich target for building a new class of applications that improve operational and energy efficiency of building operations that take into account human activities. Such applications, however, rarely experience widespread adoption due to the lack of a common descriptive schema that would enable porting these applications and systems to different buildings. Our demo presents Brick [4], a uniform schema for representing metadata in buildings. Our schema defines a concrete ontology for sensors, subsystems and relationships among them, which enables portable applications. Using a web application, we will demonstrate real buildings that have been mapped to the Brick schema, and show application queries that extracts relevant metadata from these buildings. The attendees would be able to create example buildings and write their own queries.

A building energy management system includes building equipment, a data collector, an analytics service, a timeseries database, and an energy management application. The building equipment monitor and control one or more variables in the building energy management system and provide data samples of the one or more variables. The data collector collects the data samples from the building equipment and generates a data timeseries including a plurality of the data samples. The analytics service performs one or more analytics using the data timeseries and generates a results timeseries including a plurality of result samples indicating results of the analytics. The timeseries database stores the data timeseries and the results timeseries. The energy management application retrieves the data timeseries and the results timeseries from the timeseries database in response to a request for timeseries data associated with the one or more variables.

A method for monitoring or controlling equipment of a building includes receiving a first timeseries comprising first data samples of a first variable monitored or controlled by a system and a second timeseries comprising second data samples of a second variable monitored or controlled by the system. The first data samples are at least partially asynchronous with the second data samples. The method includes synchronizing the first timeseries with the second timeseries by aggregating both the first timeseries and the second timeseries using equivalent aggregation intervals. Aggregating the first timeseries generates a third timeseries comprising aggregated values of the first variable and aggregating the second timeseries generates a fourth timeseries comprising aggregated values of the second variable. The method includes performing an automated operation to monitor or control the equipment of the building using the synchronized data samples of the third timeseries and the fourth timeseries.

The BMS further includes a data collector configured to collect raw data samples from the building equipment and generate one or more raw data timeseries comprising a plurality of the raw data samples. The BMS also includes a timeseries processing engine. The timeseries processing engine is configured to identify one or more timeseries processing workflows that apply to the raw data timeseries, each of the workflows comprising a predefined sequence of timeseries processing operation. The timeseries processing engine is further configured to process the raw data timeseries using the identified timeseries processing workflows to generate one or more derived data timeseries. The BMS further includes a timeseries storage interface configured to store the raw data timeseries and the derived data timeseries in a timeseries database.

A system for user interaction with a building automation system (BAS). The system includes a user device configured to accept vocal inputs and produce audio outputs, and a server in communication with the user device and a BAS controller. The server is configured to translate a vocal input to input text, and determine and store a conversation context based on the input text. The server is further configured to determine a desired output corresponding to the input text. Additionally, the server is configured to receive, from the BAS controller, BAS data corresponding to the desired output, and generate at least one audio output from the BAS data. The user device outputs the at least one audio output, and the server is configured to apply the conversation context to a subsequent vocal input.

Systems and methods for conversational interaction with a building automation system

A building automation system (BAS) is configured to support a variety of different natural language processing (NLP) service providers with minimal or no redesign effort. The BAS includes an event handler configured to receive an external request from a service provider. The external request is associated with a voice input uttered by a user. The BAS further includes an abstraction layer configured to receive the external request from the event handler and generate an internal request based on the external request. The BAS further includes an intent processor configured to receive the internal request from the abstraction layer and an intent handler in communication with the intent processor and configured to perform an action in accordance with the internal request.

A building management system (BMS) includes building equipment, a data collector, a sample aggregator, and an application. The building equipment is operable to monitor and control a variable in the BMS and to provide raw data samples of the variable. The data collector is configured to collect the raw data samples from the building equipment and generate a raw data timeseries including a plurality of the raw data samples. The sample aggregator is configured to automatically generate a data rollup timeseries including a plurality of aggregated data samples. The aggregated data samples are generated by aggregating the raw data samples as the raw data samples are collected from the building equipment. Both timeseries are stored in a timeseries database. The application is configured to retrieve the raw data timeseries and the data rollup timeseries from the timeseries database in response to a request for timeseries data associated with the variable.

The smart circuit breaker further includes a power meter configured to measure a power characteristic of the subcircuit.
