The claimed subject matter relates to systems and methods for processing messages in a wireless communications environment. In an aspect, a communications method is provided. The method includes initiating a registration with a network domain node and generating sequence information with respect to the registration. The sequence information is then employed to facilitate further communications with the network domain node.

Message ordering for network based mobility management systems

The disclosure relates in some aspects to sharing wireless communication resources. For example, a first type of device allocated to use a first resource pool may dynamically use a second resource pool allocated for a second type of device. The first type of device may use an entry criteria to determine whether to use the second resource pool. In some aspects, the entry criteria may specify that resource sharing is permitted if a ratio of resources used by devices of the second type (relative to the total resources in the second resource pool) is less than a threshold. In addition, the first type of device may use an exit criteria to determine whether to stop using the second resource pool. In some aspects, the exit criteria may specify that resource sharing should stop if a ratio of resources used by devices of the second type is greater than a threshold.

Dynamic resource sharing

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communication, and more specifically to advertising discovery information, relaying discovery information, and to the secure relay of discovery information in wireless networks. Various frame structures are provided for such transmitting and relaying of discovery information. According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, security is provided for relaying discovery information. According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, compensation may be provided to a device that relays discovery information (e.g., when the relaying results in a transaction).

Peer-to-peer relaying of discovery information

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may identify a configuration for transmitting ranging signals in a vehicle-based communication system. The configuration may identify a plurality of channels to be used for the ranging signals and timing for the ranging signals. The wireless device may transmit the configuration to a receiver and transmit ranging signals based at least in part on the configuration. The receiver may use the ranging signals to determine a distance between the receiver and the wireless device. The receiver may use the determined distance to update positioning information or operate a motor vehicle.

Secure relay of discovery information in wireless networks

Methods and apparatus for storing, manipulating, retrieving, and forwarding state, e.g., context and other information, used to support communications sessions with one or more end nodes, e.g., mobile devices, are described. Various features are directed to a mobile node controlling the transfer of state from a first access node to a second access node during a handoff operation thereby eliminating any need for state transfer messages to be transmitted between the second access node and the first access node during handoff. Other features of the invention are directed to the use of a core network node to store state information. State information stored in the core node can be accessed and used by access nodes in cases where a mobile node does not send a state transfer message during a handoff, e.g., because communication with the first access node is lost or because such messages are not supported.

Enhanced techniques for using core based nodes for state transfer

Techniques are described for wireless communication at a wireless device. One method includes transmitting, during a TTI, a first message using a first MCS; and transmitting, during the TTI, a second message using a second MCS. The first message includes indications of a location, a heading, and a speed of the wireless device, and the second MCS is higher than the first MCS. Another method includes decoding a first message received during a TTI; performing a Doppler effect compensation for a second message based at least in part on the first message; and decoding the second message based at least in part on the Doppler effect compensation. The second message is also received during the TTI. The first message is decoded in accordance with a first MCS, and the second message is decoded in accordance with a second MCS, with the second MCS being higher than the first MCS.

Techniques for compensating for doppler effects in communications

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to techniques for sharing sensor information. The techniques may be practiced, for example, in a vehicle to vehicle (V2V) environment, where frequency resources are mapped based on vehicle location(s).

Location based sensor sharing

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE), e.g., a vehicle in a group of platooning vehicles configured for wireless communications, may identify a travel direction of the group of platooning vehicles. The UE may identify a set of time-frequency radio resources allocated to the travel direction. The UE may perform inter-vehicle communications with one or more neighboring vehicles of the group of platooning vehicles using the set of time-frequency radio resources.

Methods to mitigate inter-platoon interference

A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus selects a serving cell for connection to a network. The apparatus performs a search for a frequency band on a neighbor cell for use in device-to-device communications. The apparatus performs the device-to-device communications using pre-configured resources associated with the frequency band when the search for the frequency band on the neighbor cell fails. The apparatus performs the device-to-device communications using resources associated with the frequency band of the neighbor cell when the search for the frequency band on the neighbor cell is successful.

Frequency determination for device-to-device transmissions and receptions

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with LTE based paging for peer discovery. In one example, an eNodeB is equipped to receive a message including a D2D discovery notification for a UE, determine that the UE is in an idle mode, and transmit a paging notification to the UE including the D2D discovery notification. In another example, a UE is equipped to receive, from an eNodeB, a paging notification including a D2D discovery notification, determine, while in idle mode, that the D2D discovery notification is successfully decoded, and transmit an ACK to the eNodeB using a RACH sequence on a PRACH.

Methods and apparatus for paging based peer discovery

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE), e.g., a lead platooning vehicle configured for wireless communications, may determine a communication resource requirement for a group of platooning vehicles. The communication resource requirement may be based at least in part on a number of vehicles forming the group of platooning vehicles and a communication range of at least a portion of the vehicles. The UE may identify, based at least in part on the identified communication resource requirement, an assignment of time-frequency radio resources to use for inter-vehicle communications in the group of platooning vehicles. The UE may transmit an indication of the assignment of time-frequency radio resources to the group of platooning vehicles.

Methods to enable efficient intra-platoon communication

Systems and methods are disclosed for sharing network feedback information. The method may include establishing, at a first access terminal, a wireless link with an access point, receiving network configuration data from the access point, composing a network feedback expression that indicates a status or availability of at least one network service associated with the access point, and transmitting the network feedback expression to a second access terminal via a D2D link.
