Dialysis apparatus including a blood treatment unit having a dialysate chamber and a blood chamber separated by a semipermeable membrane, a dialysate circuit presenting a supply line and a discharge line connected to the blood treatment unit, a preparation device for preparing a dialysate containing a substance present in the blood too and a regulator regulating the concentration of the substance in the dialysate. A blood circuit to circulate extracorporeal blood through the blood chamber; a controller that determines a value representative of the concentration of the substance in the blood and are programmed for driving the regulator as a function of the determined value representative of the substance concentration in the blood such that the substance concentration in the dialysate tends towards the substance concentration in the blood.

A controller for blood treatment equipment comprising a treatment unit including a semipermeable membrane separating the treatment unit into a first compartment for the circulation of blood and a second compartment for the circulation of a treatment liquid is enclosed. The controller is adapted to receive one or more entries of information measured during the course of a treatment procedure, to calculate from said measured information a value of a significant parameter indicative of the progress of an extracorporeal blood treatment carried out by the equipment. The controller is also adapted to compare the calculated significant parameter to a prescribed reference value for the same parameter and to generate at least one output control signal responsive to said comparison for automatically controlling one or more operations performed by the equipment. Equipment comprising the controller and a control method the controller can be programmed to carry out are also disclosed.

Control apparatus and control method for a blood treatment equipment

It is disclosed a controller for a blood treatment equipment comprising at least a treatment unit including a semipermeable membrane separating the treatment unit in a first compartment for the circulation of blood and in a second compartment for the circulation a of a treatment liquid; the controller is adapted to receive one or more entries of measured information measured during the course of a treatment procedure, calculate from said measured information a value of at least a significant parameter indicative of the progress of an extracorporeal blood treatment carried out by the equipment, wherein the controller is also adapted to compare said calculated significant parameter to at least a prescribed reference value for the same parameter, and to generate at least one output control signal responsive to said comparison for automatically controlling one or more operations performed by the equipment. Process/apparatus for the processing of body fluids, advantageously comprising plasmapheresis technique for the fractionation of whole blood, features (i) means, e.g., a common blood transfusion needle, for withdrawing and returning body fluid from and to a living patient, (ii) a body fluid separating module which comprises an upstream first compartment and a downstream second compartment, and having a semipermeable membrane body fluid separator disposed therebetween, (iii) first conduit means communicating said withdrawal and return means (i) with the upstream first compartment of said separating module (ii), (iv) means provided along said first conduit (iii) for conveying body fluid in either direction therein, (v) means adapted to monitor the pressure of body fluid circulating in said first conduit (iii), and provided between said conveying means (iv) and the inlet end of the upstream first compartment of said separating module (ii), (vi) second conduit means communicating the upstream first compartment of said separating module (ii) to (vii) means for flexibly containing body fluid which has not been transported across the semipermeable membrane thereof, (viii) means for collecting body fluid transported across said semipermeable membrane and communicating with the downstream second compartment of said separating module (ii), (ix) means adapted to monitor the amount of body fluid withdrawn from the patient during any given withdrawal phase, and (x) means adapted to expel body fluid from said container means (vii) and to return same to the patient.
