Substrate with Antimicrobial Properties An antimicrobial substrate (glass, ceramic or metallic) coated on at least one of its surface with at least one mixed layer deposited by a sputtering under vacuum magnetically enhanced process is described. The layer comprising at least one antimicrobial agent mixed to binder material chosen amongst the metal oxides, oxynitrides, oxycarbides or nitrides. This substrate present antimicrobial properties, in particular bactericidal activity even when no thermal treatment has been applied. If a tempered and antimicrobial glass is required, the same co-sputtering process can be used, optionally an underlayer can be added. Antimicrobial properties are maintained even after a tempering process.

Substrate with antimicrobial properties

This invention relates to glazing panels, and in particular to chromogenic glazing panels and to a process for manufacturing such glazing panels. It is disclosed a glazing panel comprising two sheets of glass spaced apart from each other and sealed together along a of their edges, wherein the distance between the two sheets of glass is between 10 and 500 &#x3bc;m and wherein the glazing panel is provided with a plurality of spaced deposits arranged between and in contact with the two sheets of glass and arranged with a distance between the deposits of between 1 and 10 cm, at least some of the deposits being attached to the surface of each glass sheet and each deposit comprising an adhesive. The glazings according to the invention have the advantage of providing a substantially constant distance between the two sheets of glass over substantially the whole surface of the glazing panel.

A mirror with no copper layer comprises a glass substrate; a silver coating layer provided at a surface of the glass substrate; at least one material selected from the group consisting of Pd, Ni, Eu, Pt, Ru, Na, Zr, Y and Rh, provided at a surface of the silver coating layer which is adjacent to a paint layer; and at least one paint layer covering the silver coating layer.

The mirrors show a scratch resistance determined by the Clemen test showing scratches of less than 10 &#x3bc;m when applying a weight of 1500 g; a hardness determined by the Persoz pendulum of at least 250 s; and a commercially acceptable resistance to at least three glues amongst oxime, alcoxy, MS polymer and rubber.

A method for forming a coating film at part of a surface of a substrate includes, in sequence, a first step of applying a masking agent having inert particles over part of the substrate through a screen having blocked areas, a second step of depositing the coating film under at least partial vacuum over at least part of the surface covered and not covered by the masking agent, and a third step of removing the masking agent covered by the film with the aid of an aqueous fluid.
