The invention relates to an Al&#x2014;Zn&#x2014;Mg&#x2014;Cu alloy worked product, characterised in that contains (percentage by weight) the remainder being aluminium with its inevitable impurities. This product preferentially has an elongation at fracture Aof at least 24% and an Rm&#xd7;Aparameter of at least 8500. It shows a good stress and intergranular corrosion resistance. It may be used for welded constructions, particularly tankers, motor car bodywork, and industrial vehicles.

Al-Mg alloy products suitable for welded construction

Rolled or extruded products for welded constructions made of AlMgMn type aluminum alloy. These products contain, in % by weight, 3.0&#x3c;Mg&#x3c;5.0, 0.75&#x3c;Mn&#x3c;1.0, Fe&#x3c;0.25, Si&#x3c;0.25, 0.02&#x3c;Zn&#x3c;0.40, optionally one or more of the elements Cr, Cu, Ti, Zr such that Cr&#x3c;0.25, Cu&#x3c;0.20, Ti&#x3c;0.20, Zr&#x3c;0.20, other elements &#x3c;0.05 each and &#x3c;0.15 in total, wherein Mn+2Zn&#x3e;0.75. In the welded state, these products have improved mechanical strength and resistance to fatigue without unfavorable consequences with regard to toughness and corrosion resistance, and are particularly suitable for naval construction, for industrial vehicles and for bicycle frames made of welded tubes.
