Ski boot

A ski binding comprises two lateral jaws hinged to a slide arranged upon the longitudinal axis of the ski and subjected to the action of a release spring; a second set of links hinged to a fixed baseplate is also hinged to the jaws. This type of binding locks the boot by its side edges.

Safety ski binding

An articulated casing for ski boots comprises a plurality of rigid sections articulatedly interconnected for vertical swinging movement relative to each other about horizontal axes. In a preferred form, four such elements are provided, one comprising a sole or base, another comprising an upper which is pivotally mounted to the front of the base, and which may be in two parts that swing about axes parallel to the length of the base, and a third and fourth forming the front and rear of a boot top, at least one of which is pivoted to the rear of the base, the other being pivoted also to the rear of the base or to the rear of the upper. The various elements can be latched together in closed relationship, in which case they fold down upon each other to internest. Means are provided for securing the articulated parts in extended or use position; and the same means may hold the parts in the folded nested position. A waterproof sock can be provided within the casing.

Articulated casing for ski boots

The device comprises two jaws hinged about an axle and subjected to the restoring action of a spring towards the closed position of these jaws onto a boot; a stop, integral with each jaw is adjacent its dead point in relation to the axle and is located on the other side of the longitudinal axis of the device. This arrangement reduces friction and permits effective return to the operative position whenever a load is insufficient to cause the boot to be released.

Ski binding

A safety arrangement for a ski comprising a binding having a plate and a brake in the form of a spade pivoted on the ski and normally biased by a resilient member into an active position in which the spade projects below the sole of the ski. The spade may be retracted into an inactive position against the action of the resilient member. The spade is movable into the inactive position when the plate is fitted on the ski and a skier's boot is retained in position on the plate.

Safety arrangement for a ski

A ski binding of the type comprising a plate engageable by a skier's boot and a releasable mechanism for securing the plate on a ski and enabling the plate to separate from the ski if the skier should fall. A ski brake is supported by the plate and comprises at least one spade pivoted on the plate. A member movable by engagement with a skier's boot controls the spade so that the spade is retracted into an inactive position above the ski sole when the boot is placed on the plate and projects downwardly into an active position below the ski sole when the boot is separated from the plate.

The system includes: a reference point on the ski; front and rear jaws for maintaining the boot on the ski and disposed in a predetermined relationship relative to this reference point; a member fixed on the ski and adapted to receive each jaw in a slidable manner and including means for guiding the jaws longitudinally; an inversed drive mechanism connecting the jaws and acting along the longitudinal axis of the ski for moving simultaneously the jaws in opposite directions from and towards the reference point on the ski; and single control means operating the inverse drive mechanism.
