A tire is provided, on a surface thereof, an applicaiton having a top layer exposed to the air and a bottom layer in contact with the tire. The top layer can be a rigid element and/or a marking covering, or a device for measuring or monitoring the tire. The bottom layer is a foam having a void ratio of at least 40%, a thickness of at least 0.5 mm, and a density ranging from 0.02 g/cmto 0.5 g/cm.

Tire having an element or covering attached to a surface thereof

The tread wear on a tire is measured while the tire is mounted on a wheel. Electromagnetic energy is transmitted to an internal space of the tire via a transmission element disposed in a tire tread element. That transmitted energy is detected inside the tire, and an energy variable from the detected electromagnetic radiation is determined which is used to determine a wear variable representative of wear on the tire tread element. A signal transmitter disposed within the internal space sends signals representative of the wear.

Method and system for measuring wear on a tire

A process for cross-linking/expanding at least one cross-linkable, expandable blank, which is intended to form all or part of an elastomeric safety support for a tire in which: the cross-linking consists of curing the expandable or expanded blank in a bath of fluid at excess pressure which is contained in an enclosure, such that the blank interacts with the bath independently of the enclosure, the temperature of the bath having a maximum value of between 110&deg; C. and 210&deg; C. and the absolute pressure of said bath having at least a value equal to or greater than 14 bar, and the expansion consists of curing the cross-linkable or cross-linked blank in the bath, the temperature of the bath having a maximum value of between 110&deg; C. and 210&deg; C., and the absolute pressure of the bath having at least a value equal to or greater than 5 bar and a final pressure-relief value substantially equal to 1 bar, for expanding the blank such that its increase in volume is unlimited with respect to the enclosure.

Process and device for cross-linking/expanding a blank for a safety support for a tire and support obtained by this process

A molding element for equipping a mold for molding a rubber tread, composed of at least two molding parts provided with lateral walls and end walls joining the lateral walls, the lateral walls being intended to mold in the rubber tread main walls defining a cutout, the main walls being connected by at least one rubber connecting element. In the molding position, the molding parts of the molding element are arranged such that one wall of a molding part is in contact with at least one wall of another molding part, the geometries of the walls of the molding parts being functionally arranged to form at least one orifice permitting the passage of the rubber for molding a connecting element. At least one of the molding parts is mounted to be mobile relative to the molding part with which it defines at least one orifice, such that, under the action of the demolding forces, the mobile part is displaced relative to the other to create a passage sufficient to permit the molded connecting element(s) to pass and thus to permit demolding of the rubber tread in a single operation without breaking the connecting elements.

Molding element for tire

A tire has a toroidal-shaped carcass and an airtight layer which contains at least one ductile metal layer. In one embodiment the airtight layer is a deformable metal layer having a thickness less than or equal to 5 &mgr;m applied on the interior surface of the tire carcass by a support carrier on which the metal layer has been deposited. The support carrier may be retained as part of the tire or removed after applying the metal layer on the interior surface of the tire carcass.

Tire having an airtight layer with a ductile metal layer

A decorative laminate for articles of elastomeric material in which a layer of pigments is sandwiched between an adhesive covering and a protective vering.
