This invention relates to a surgical clip for cutaneous suture, wherein it successively comprises, starting from the centre of the clip and on each side of the plane of symmetry of the clip, a rectilinear branch, a first bend with concavity facing the skin into which the clip must be engaged, a second intermediate bend with convexity facing the skin and a third bend with concavity facing the skin, this third bend extending by an end leg terminating in the point of the clip and which is inclined by an angle of about 45.degree. with respect to the general direction of extension of the clip. The invention also relates to a tool for applying said clip.

An agraffe or staple-shaped element for osteosynthesis intended for fixing the focus of an osteotomy while awaiting consolidation of web from which issue two lateral arms having pointed ends adapted to penetrate in the bone. The web of the agraffe comprises two parts inclined with respect to each other and forming an outwardly open obtuse angle. Each of the lateral arms of the agraffe presents, near its zone of join with the web, fins projecting from the front faces of this arms, such fins reinforcing the anchoring of the agraffe in the zone.

An undersea optical fiber cable with a protective metal casing around the optical fibers 1. The casing includes a stranded assembly 3 of high-tensile metal wires of polygonal cross-section 3A forming an arch structure. The side (4) which is turned towards the axis of the cable is shorter than the outwardly-turned side 5, and intermediate sides 6 touch or interlock. A metal outer tube 7 is formed by skelping a tape to produce a cylinder and then welding the longitudinal edges thereof. The metal casing is filled with a liquid 4A whose density is close to that of water and whose viscosity is close to that of glycerine. The overall density of the cable is slightly higher than that of water.

Undersea optical fiber telecommunications cable

A machine for manufacturing disks on a very long rod, said machine including two conveyor-driven chains of moulding units that press against one another and receive said rod therebetween in an area provided with at least one orifice for injecting a plastics substance into a cavity formed between a pair of mating units, one from each chain, the units then parting to release a disk-shaped part moulded onto said very long rod. A machine for manufacturing circular section helical wave-guides and providing simultaneous calibration of the bore of the helix and snug fitting of the screen around the helix. The helix is loosely fitted in an enveloping tube and both tube and helix are drawn through a reducing die for drawing the tube down onto the helix. The bore of the helix is established by a mandrel and the outer surface of the helix is softened just before entering the die whereby the helix is welded to the inner surface of the tube.

Manufacture of helical wave guides

A helical wave guide comprising a hollow conductor coated on its outside with an electrically conductive screen and formed by an electrically conductive wire coated with a thermoplastic insulator, wound in a helix and welded turn by turn by surface melting of the thermoplastic insulator. It is applicable to signal transmission.
