A transmission device includes a central wheel, a satellite wheel, a drive element and a tension control device. The central wheel is disposed to rotate about a central wheel axle that is fixed in a first position. The satellite wheel has a satellite wheel axle, which is movable with the satellite wheel relative to the fixed position such that the satellite wheel does not rotate about the satellite wheel axle. The drive element, which has a first portion and a second portion, connects the central wheel and the satellite wheel. When the satellite wheel revolves in a first direction around the central wheel, the central wheel is induced to rotate in a second direction opposite the first direction. The tension control device is connected to the drive element and controls its tension to at least partially compensate for the induced rotation of the central wheel.

A GATLING type multi-barrel weapon includes a revolving assembly with sliding loading and firing chambers that are in axial alignment with the barrels of the weapon. Each chamber is able to move between an open and a closed position following a translational to-and-fro movement in parallel to the rotational axis of the revolving assembly, the two positions being at a distance from one another such as to define a loading space that extends axially for a distance corresponding to the length of a munition. When the chamber is in its open position, supports retain a munition received in the loading space, the supports being formed of two supports respectively provided on the front end face of each chamber and on a ring mounted sliding on the rear part of the barrel. The weapon notably allows plastic-cased telescoped munitions having a polygonal cross section to be fired.

A system for assembling the barrel of a medium or large caliber gun on a sleeve of the gun's breech block assembly includes a nut designed to be screwed on a threaded end of the barrel. The nut is inserted into a cavity inside the sleeve, and a device for driving the nut in rotation is provided. The driving device includes a gear mechanism and a drive system operated from the outside of the sleeve, the drive system being designed to engage the gear mechanism.

The invention relates to a system for loading a round such as a telescoped round into a pivoting chamber of a gun, in particular a medium caliber gun. The system comprises a feed device secured to the oscillating mass of the gun and laterally offset relative to the gun barrel. The feed device is situated between the trunnion axis of the gun and the pivoting chamber. The system further includes an insertion device for inserting a round into the chamber, which insertion device is secured to the recoil mass of the gun, is situated above the barrel, and lies substantially in the vertical plane in which the chamber pivots. The round is conveyed from the feed device to the insertion device by a feed star mounted to rotate about the barrel of the gun.

The invention relates to a safety device, for an automatic weapon with 'floating' firing, including a rotating drum (2) driven by an external motor for driving a breech with a reciprocating motion. The safety device includes locking devices (14) for the rotating of the drum in each cycle, and control devices for retracting the locking devices when the weapon recoils, the control devices being fitted to act on the locking devices for a predetermined recoil travel distance, independently of the weapon recoil starting position.

The invention is directed to an automatic firearm apparatus of the type including a feed system and a rotatable drum driven in rotation by an outer motor, wherein the drum includes a closed contour breech drive ramp. The apparatus includes two follower members cooperating with the ramp, each rigidly mounted on a breech to impart to the breech a reciprocating movement between a feed position, in which it is separate from its respective cartridge chamber, and a firing position, in which it closes the cartridge chamber. The feed system includes a feed mechanism rotating continuously and two distribution mechanisms rotating intermittently. Each of the distribution mechanisms are arranged to receive ammunition from the feed mechanism when stopped and, when rotating thereafter, to supply this ammunition to its respective breech while the latter is in its feed position.

The invention consists of integrating the firing pin 12 with carrier piece 1 during the locking phase and then with the movable bolt head 7 during the recoil phase. The integration means consists of levers 17 pivoting on the firing pin about shaft 18 and bearing on surfaces 23 and 26 on the movable bolt head and counterpin 14, respectively. The invention finds its applications in the field of weaponry and, more particularly, in small- and medium-caliber weapons.

A dual ammunition feed for automatic weapons includes a positioning device for the ammunition wherein a central positioning sprocket unit interacts with two feed sprocket units in two separate feed casings to allow for loading with two different types of ammunition. The feed casings are tiltable into and out of engagement with the positioning device, the tilting of a particular feed casing into engagement with the positioning device being followed by the simultaneous disengagement of the other feed casing from the positioning device. The tilting of a particular feed casing into engagement further results in the coupling of the engaged feed casing's feed sprocket unit with a reducing transmission driven by an external motor, and in a change in the rotational direction of the central positioning sprocket unit such that the central positioning sprocket unit always rotates in an opposite direction from that of the feed sprocket unit of the particular feed casing which is engaged.
