An articulation for an automobile seat includes a mobile flange having an inner toothing, a fixed flange having an inner toothing for cooperating directly with the mobile flange and an eccentric means positioned between the mobile flange and the fixed flange for biasing aa articulating element. The eccentric means including a driving axis provided with a snug and a pair of discs rotatable about the axis relative to one another. Each disc having a central recess and an arc-shaped window. The central recess having a hollow housing extending outwardly for receiving the snug of the axis. A resilient member is positioned within the arc-shaped windows of the discs and bears against bearing surfaces provided at the ends of the windows. When the two discs are spaced apart from one another by the eccentric means, the articulation ensures the clearance take-up and the irreversibility of the articulation.

Clearance take-up articulation for an automobile seat

An articulation used in automobile seats, comprising: a mobile flange having a mobile flange inner toothing; a double satellite; a fixed flange having a fixed flange inner toothing for cooperating with said double satellite, the toothings of which mesh on one side with the fixed flange inner toothing of the fixed flange, and on another side with the mobile flange inner toothing of the mobile flange; an eccentric acting on the double satellite; a driving axis of the eccentric provided with at least one snug, the eccentric being made of two discs angularly mobile with respect to one another, each disc having an arched window; and a resilient element, said discs being connected to one another by said resilient element housed in said arched windows, while a central portion of each of said discs is formed with at least one circular recess, extended by a hollow housing adapted for receiving one of said snugs, and wherein each disc is noncircular and housed inside a bore of the double satellite; the two discs, when in a position spaced apart from one another, ensuring a clearance take-up and also an irreversibility of the articulation.

Clearance take-up articulation used in automobile seats

The vehicle seat articulation includes a fixed flange fixed to a first framework of the seat, a mobile flange rigidly connected to a second framework of the seat, a cup member enabling the mobile flange to execute an orbital movement causing an angular movement of the articulation, and a dish member maintaining the mobile flange against the fixed flange. The edge of the dish member is formed with an outer toothing that cooperates with toothings of semi-cut portions of the mobile flange. The toothings of the edge of the dish member and the toothings of the semi-cut portions have each a height equal to twice that of an off-center distance 'e' provided between two shoulders of the cup member.

Vehicle seat articulations

At least one toothed roller cooperates with a deformable bar with respect to a casing which contains at least one V-shaped cam. The V-shaped cam has a central portion with opposed toothed ramps cooperating both with the toothed roller. A control cam acting on the V-shaped cam for permitting a blockage of the whole assembly is provided. The deformable bar is either made of vertical blades assembled and fixed to one another or provided with transverse bores. The bar will be deformed under action of the toothed roller upon great impact in an accident.

The articulation comprises two flanges enclosing an inner mechanism and a closing lid. A first one of the flanges is elongated to form an elongated flange having a half circumference provided with cut-outs. An other one of the two flanges is circular. The closing lid has a periphery with curved over tabs that fit on the elongated flange. The cut-outs on the half circumference of the elongated flange enable passage of the tabs.

At least one rod is normally locked by toothed rollers cooperating with toothed slanted inner portions of V-shaped locking members controlled by a locking cam. The V-shaped locking members are guided within an inner casing of a polygonal shape that has a lower portion for supporting the rod. The lower portion comprises two slanted inner elements which cooperate with a fluted roller placed underneath the underside of the rod. Under an impact, the fluted roller is locked underneath the rod by moving upwardly along one of the two slanted inner elements.

The fixed flange with an inner toothing and the mobile flange with an inner toothing cooperate with a double satellite mounted in a ball bearing forming inside a housing for a composite cam. A sufficient excentration is provided between the diameter of the toothings of the double satellite and the intermediate part concentrical to the toothings of the fixed and mobile flanges so as to allow the composite cam made of two symmetrical and identical parts normally separated from one another at their upper portion by a spring which is slightly under tension and at their lower portion by a finger rigidly connected to an intermediate circular part mounted in bearing in the mobile and fixed flanges.

The lower profile member of a seat slide carries a shoe made of an L-shaped member having two vertical brackets. A first bracket support a spindle on which is mounted a first latch having a lower end which normally bears on the shoe and which is returned to such a position by a coil shaped spring rigidly connected to the vertical bracket and to an upper part of the first latch. Two bearing elements carry a shaft having ends to which two sectors are fixed for supporting an abutment and a pin. The pin is adapted to act on a second latch mounted on the upper profile member for disengaging the first latch. The abutment is used for providing a limitation for a rearward stroke of the upper profile member with respect to the lower profile member.

Slide for a vehicle seat with a fixed return position system

A locking device is made of a casing having a substantially trapezoidal shape and a rod extending through the casing. The rod has a central portion and two side guides to permit the central portion to come into locking engagement with a toothed roller placed inside toothed triangular recesses of a V-shaped member. The V-shaped member has a top portion provided with a fork. One side of the V-shaped member is connected to an inner edge of the casing and the other side has a cutout with a lower rounded portion and an upper straight portion provided with a slope. The cutout cooperates with a cam comprising a flat portion and a finger.

A setting in position identification potentiometer is connected to terminals of the motor. The motor is supplied with a voltage (U.sub.feed) possibly variable and switchable between two reverse polarity states according to rotation direction. The potentiometer has a slider which is connected via a first dividing bridge to input of an analog-digital converter subjected to a reference voltage (U.sub.ref) connected to same possibly variable voltage via a second dividing bridge. Output of the analog-digital converter is connected to an electronic module. The resistor value at the ground of each of the two dividing bridges is respectively equal to a product of the other resistor value by a same multiplying coefficient A.

A threaded rod of a variable length has one end connected to a first part of the element to be adjusted. A pivoted detent element cooperates with the threaded rod, with two channels extending diametrically through the pivoted detent element. The first channel has a threaded wall and the second channel has a smooth wall, the second channel forming an angle of preferably about 15.degree. with the first channel. The pivoted detent element is pivotally mounted in a casing and has a protruding tail. A spiral spring is supported between the tail and the casing. The casing further comprises a rear portion connected to a second part of the element to be adjusted.

The articulation mechanisms is made particularly of irreversible satellite mechanisms connected to one another by a connection bar. Each fixation member is mounted on a mechanism for setting inclination of the seat back and is formed of a casing so shaped to receive a dagger fixed to each lower end of the seat back armature. The dagger is held within the casing by being wedged with assistance of a part made of a central serrated roller and two lateral smooth extensions of smaller diameters enabling the roller to rotate freely inside openings formed in the casing and to be pushed by at least one spring for wedging the roller between the dagger and said casing.

In the shaped junction portion, each end of the seat and back frame is deformed in order to obtain a flattened portion in a central area conveniently stiffened by thickened areas, raised edges, or protruding outer lips providing thereby for a perfect application of the shaped end of the tube onto a face of a flange of the articulation mechanism, these parts being thereafter connected together, junction studs of each flange of the articulation inclination being used for a respective centering of the part.
