High voltage hybrid circuit-breaker

A self-extinguishing expansion switch or circuit breaker, including an extinguishing chamber and an expansion chamber connected by a duct. The extinguishing chamber is positioned above the expansion chamber. An axially movable tube supports a movable arcing contact which is cooperable with a stationary arcing contact. The axially movable tube separates axially from a conducting tube supported by an operating rod such that the circuit breaker is in an isolated position beyond an open position.

Self-extinguishing expansion switch or circuit breaker

A circuit breaker with expansion and rotating arc in sulphur hexafluoride comprising a metal breaking chamber supporting a stationary main contact capable of cooperating with a movable main contact. The breaking chamber comprises an insulating end plate away from the breaking area and an opposite metal end plate close to the breaking area and supporting a coil or a permanent blowout magnet by rotation of the arc drawn between the arcing contacts housed inside the breaking chamber.

Rotating arc and expansion circuit breaker

A rotary switch with a sealed enclosure in which a rotating knife-blade is housed cooperating with two stationary contacts supported by the internal periphery of the enclosure. A permanent magnet is incorporated in the stationary contacts to magnetically blow the arc roots on a curved migration track towards hidden locations which are not facing the knife-blade. The invention is applicable to a gas-insulated medium voltage switch.

An electrical circuit breaker with self-expansion and rotating arc insulated with SF6 comprises a fixed arcing contact secured to the front face of a magnetic blow-out coil. An electrode is electrically insulated from the fixed arcing contact and covers the front face being connected to the opposite end of the coil by a branch circuit. The electrode is arranged to pick up a fraction of the arcing current, so that the magnetic field generated in the breaking zone by the coil remains appreciably constant when the value of the short-circuit current exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Arc extinction device for gas insulation electrical switchgear

The invention concerns a rotating arc switch using a permanent magnet (38) arc blow-out. The permanent magnet is housed inside the fixed contact (16) and is thermally and electrically isolated from it by an insulating layer (46). The permanent magnet (38) is placed against the annular contact (36) surface, very close to the breaking zone, and has a cavity (40) opposite the central opening of the annular surface (36). The magnetic blow-out is combined with a pneumatic blow out by escape of the warmed gases towards an expansion chamber (36).

Gas-blast circuit interrupter having a gas-blast aspiration device for interrupting small currents and a magnetic blowout device which causes rotation of the arc and/or a gas blasting device by the thermal expansion of the gas in the arc-extinguishing chamber towards an expansion chamber for interrupting high currents about some hundred amperes.

Rotary arc type circuit breaker

An alternating current interrupter is contained in a sealed elongated housing filled with dielectric gas, such as SF6. The interrupter comprises a pair of separable stationary and movable contacts and a magnetic blow-out arc extinguishing device including an annular coil disposed coaxially with a first ring-shaped electrode which surrounds the stationary contact. The coil produces a radial magnetic field in the arcing zone causing the arc to rotate rapidly along the first electrode which is secured to the inner edge of the coil's front face in order to reduce the electrodynamic repulsion forces between said coil and electrode. A metallic shield is disposed between the arcing zone and the outer portion of the front face which is not covered by the first electrode.

Alternating current interrupter with magnetic arc extinguishing means

An arc-extinguishing device having a pair of separable electrodes to draw an arc therebetween. A permanent magnet is associated with each electrode and the magnetic fields produced by the magnets are additive to rapidly transfer the arc to diverging parts of the electrodes thereby causing the arc to be lengthened and subsequently quenched. Advantageously the electrodes comprise a pair of offset contact rings.
