Detachable payment devices capable of performing payment transactions associated with a mobile wallet of a mobile device are described. The payment device may be implemented in a variety of shapes and sizes such as, the shape of a typical payment card or a stylus/electronic pen. In order to communicate with the mobile device, the mobile wallet of the mobile device, and a POS terminal, the detachable payment device may use short range contactless transmissions. While in a docked mode, the payment device may receive payment card data from a mobile wallet of the mobile device. Additionally, while docked, the payment device may transmit payment card data to a POS terminal's receiver, thereby acting as an integrated mobile payment unit with the mobile device. When in an undocked mode, the payment device may complete contactless payment transactions without assistance from the mobile device.

Acoustic secure transmission (AST)

An electronic device capable of communicating with a card reading apparatus and a payment method are provided. Electronic device and payment method using the same

Devices, systems, and methods for securely converting a user's existing static payment card data into dynamic card data that can be authenticated by card issuers or by a stand-in service provider, such as a payment network or processor without requiring the card issuers to make infrastructure changes. The dynamic data can be provisioned onto a magnetic secure transmission device (MST) either directly from a card issuer or using a swiper type device. Devices, systems, and methods are also disclosed for securely provisioning a dynamic card onto the MST by the card issuer. These dynamic cards may be used to transmit modified one-time-use card track data from the MST to a point of sale using a dynamic-CVV methodology to provide higher levels of security during a transaction.

Terminal for magnetic secure transmission

A transmitter to generate a signal to be read by a reader is described. The transmitter includes a driver circuit; and at least two inductors connected to the driver circuit. The driver circuit controls the current flow through the inductor and the current flow results in a signal such that the signal strength is above the detection limit of the reader for each of the inductors which may have at least one null region. Additionally, the inductors are positioned such that the null regions of the inductors do not overlap.

Transmitter and method for substantially reducing dead zones in an inductive contactless mobile payment system

A system for a baseband near field magnetic stripe data transmitter includes a mobile phone, a magnetic stripe transmission (MST) device and a payment button. The mobile phone includes a payment wallet application and is configured to transmit a stream of pulses including magnetic stripe data of a payment card. The MST device includes a driver and an inductor, and the MST device is configured to receive the stream of pulses from the mobile phone, to amplify and shape the received stream of pulses and to generate and emit high energy magnetic pulses including the magnetic stripe data of the payment card. The inductor is driven by a series of timed current pulses that result in a series of high energy magnetic pulses that resemble the fluctuating magnetic field created by a moving magnetic stripe. The payment button is programmed to be associated with a pre-selected payment card and activating of the payment button initiates the emission of high energy magnetic pulses including the magnetic stripe data of the pre-selected payment card.

A system for a baseband near field magnetic stripe data transmitter includes a mobile phone and a magnetic stripe transmission (MST) device. The mobile phone transmits a stream of pulses including magnetic stripe data of a payment card. The magnetic stripe transmission (MST) device includes a wave shaper, a driver and an induction device. The MST device receives the stream of pulses from the mobile phone, shapes and amplifies the received stream of pulses and generates and emits high energy magnetic pulses including the magnetic stripe data. The emitted high energy magnetic pulses are picked up remotely by a magnetic read head. The MST device shapes the stream of pulses to compensate for shielding, eddy current losses and limited inductance value of the magnetic read head.

The present invention describes a system and a method for a baseband near-field magnetic stripe data transmitter (MST) device that transmits payment card data from a smart-phone, or other electronic device, into a Point of Sale (POS) transaction terminal. The MST device includes a driver and an inductor. The MST receives magnetic stripe data comprising payment card data, processes the received magnetic stripe data and emits high energy magnetic pulses comprising the processed magnetic stripe data that are then received remotely by the magnetic stripe reader of the POS.
