An improved paint spray gun assembly of the syphon type having a vented paint supply container, is characterized by a conduit connectable either between the container vent and a compressed air inlet to the gun, or between the vent and a fitting remote therefrom and open to atmosphere. With either connection, the conduit prevents dripping of paint from the vent upon manipulation of the gun by an operator, and with the connection of the vent with the compressed air a positive pressure is generated within the container to increase the paint flow rate from the gun.

A trigger lock mechanism for hand held spray guns is characterized by an arm normally positioned to block operation of a trigger of the gun, but movable by an operator to release the trigger for operation. The trigger lock is particularly useful with so-called airless paint spray guns, and the arm is generally U-shaped and secured at its free ends to opposite sides of the trigger. The closed end of the arm extends around the rear of the gun whereat a housing normally blocks rearward movement thereof, and therethrough the trigger, when the trigger is in its unoperated position. By deliberate action an operator may move the closed end of the arm out of blocking engagement with the housing to release the trigger for movement to its operated position. Then, with return of the trigger to its unoperated position, the arm automatically returns to its position blocking operation of the trigger. The trigger lock mechanism thus prevents accidental or unintentional discharge of a paint spray from the gun.

Trigger lock mechanism for spray guns

A paint spray booth for removing excess atomized paint from the air in the vicinity of a spray painting operation comprises a spray booth structure having a working or spray painting area, an exhaust chamber and an exhaust stack, which together define an air passage having an inlet at the spray painting area and an outlet at the stack, within which a fan is mounted for drawing air through the inlet and out the outlet at high velocity. A plurality of generally vertical baffles are disposed in the passage between the spray painting area and the exhaust chamber for the purpose of removing overspray or excess atomized paint from the air before it is exhausted out the stack. Mineral oil is continuously flowed over the front surface of the baffles so as to entrain therein paint solids in the air stream, and the oil is received in a reservoir or holding tank wherein the paint solids are allowed to settle, and from which the oil is recirculated for downward flow over the baffles.
