An apparatus and method for removing an unvulcanized are tread from a storage device () includes the step of inverting the tread () and transporting it to a roller conveyor in a single step. The tread () is picked up by a vacuum bar () fitted with a series of suction cups (). Individual suction cups () can be selectively supplied with vacuum depending on the length of the tread (). After the suction cups () have engaged the tread, the tread is raised from the storage device (), inverted through 180 degrees, and then set onto a special slotted roller conveyor (). The slotted roller conveyor () has a center slot () to receive the vacuum bar () as it passes therethrough. Side slots () in the conveyor receive arms () attached to the vacuum bar ().

An engine mount for motor vehicles having two enclosed chambers containing hydraulic fluid, which chambers are separated from each other by a partition containing a damping channel passing therethrough to permit hydraulic fluid to flow back and forth between the chambers to damp vibrations imparted to the mount. The engine mount is equipped with a decoupling unit within one of the hydraulic chambers for coupling and decoupling the damping action of the mount in response to varying driving conditions and engine performance. The decoupling unit has a rigid member forming a cavity into which a flexible diaphragm is deflected when vibrations occur when the decoupling unit is set in a decoupling mode to prevent fluid from being pumped back and forth through the damping channel.

Hydro-Elastic engine mount

A die supporting ring member (67) is removably supported in an opening (20) of a surrounding frame (12). Pusher members (24,26) are positioned around the die supporting ring member (67) with sloping surfaces (28,30) in engagement with the circumferentially spaced dies (72) in the ring member (67). The sloping surfaces (28,30) are also engageable with sloped surfaces (32,34) in the frame opening (20). A piston and cylinder assembly (38) is mounted on the frame (12) for moving the pusher members (24,26) toward one side of the opening (20) causing them to slide along the sloping surfaces (32,34) in the frame opening (20) and move the dies (72) radially inward to crimp a tubular fitting positioned within the die supporting ring member (67).

Hose crimper and method of using same

A hose structure of simplified construction suitable for rigorous high pressure applications such as rotary well-drilling apparatus is described. The hose includes a heavy-walled tube of elastomeric material having a measured stress of at least 600 psi at 20 percent elongation, an elongation at rupture of at least 150 percent and a Young's modulus of at least 2000 psi. The formulation of the tube material includes a reactive resin system capable of polymerizing in situ.

Reinforced hose structure

A coupling, a reinforced hose and coupling assembly and a method of making such an assembly is disclosed. The coupling includes an internal recess which in the assembly is filled with elastomeric material to provide a fluid tight seal between the hose and the coupling.

Hose coupling method

The coupling has a stem and a ferrule. The stem is placed against an uncured hand-built steel cable reinforced hose. The steel reinforcement cable is spiraled onto a smaller diameter portion of the stem. The ferrule is then slid over the stem and over the reinforcing cable layers. Epoxy resin is injected through ports in the ferrule to embed the reinforcing cables and securely fix the hose structure to the stem and ferrule of the coupling. A cover is applied over the ferrule. The hose-coupling assembly is subjected to heat and pressure to cure the elastomeric portions of the hose and securely bond them to the surfaces of the coupling. The hose-coupling assembly is useful in very heavy duty applications where the assembly must withstand large end load strains when the hose is not under internal pressure, such as hose for use on a jetting sled.

Heavy duty hose coupling and method for manufacture of hose-coupling

Circumferentially spaced, radially movable die members for crimping are mounted in a die supporting ring positioned radially inward of circumferentially spaced radially movable pusher members engageable with the die. The die supporting ring is removably mounted on a fixed head and the pusher members are urged radially inward by axial movement of a crimping head having sloping surfaces slidably engageable with sloping surfaces of the pusher members. The slidable sloping surfaces of the crimping head and the pusher members are flat and matched by wear. The engageable surfaces of the die members and pusher members are not slidable and may have a matching configuration which is not affected by wear.

An inflatable packer assembly having an inflatable bladder having reinforcing means where the steel wires are arranged as a series of parallel inline cables positioning within the bladder and their ends are anchored in an upper and a lower shoe means and is embedded in elastomeric compounds having preferably special physicals and a cover of a tough elastomer.
