A ramjet solid fuel composed of Hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene aluminum, agnesium, and boron carbide is described. The high volumetric heating value fuel of the present invention significantly increases the distance range of missiles.

Solid fuel ramjet composition

An air-breathing solid fuel rocket motor containing a solid fuel ramjet gn having a plurality of concentric layers of solid fuel which provide a means of controlling the thrust of the motor.

Concentric layer ramjet fuel

An improved ramjet fuel consisting of hydrogenated hydrocarbons uses a mium weight percentage of 50% tetrahydromethylcyclopentadiene dimer (TH-dimer) with about 50% by wt. exo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene (Exo-THDC). The mixture exceeds U.S. Navy flash point requirements of 60.degree. C. while yielding a lower viscosity than TH-dimer alone. Volumetric heating properties of the mixture make it an excellent ramjet fuel.

Low viscosity air breathing missile fuel

A high energy, high density synthetic liquid hydrocarbon fuel, RJ-6, is pared by blending 60 weight percent perhydrodinorbornadiene, a synthetic fuel known as RJ-5, and 40 weight percent exo-tetrahydrocyclopentadiene, a synthetic fuel known as JP-10. This fuel is particularly suitable for use in air launched ramjet engine applications such as aircraft missile systems. This new fuel substantially meets the desirable viscosity, energy content, and flash point of the previously employed synthetic fuel blend while exhibiting superior storage characteristics in elastomeric fuel systems used in missile applications.

Liquid hydrocarbon air breather fuel

A high density fuel for airbreathing or bi-propellant engines consisting of xo-tetrahydrotricyclopentadiene (EXO-THTC) alone and in mixtures with other high density fuels. Processes for their preparation are also disclosed.

Exo-tetrahydrotricyclopentadiene, a high density liquid fuel

A method for preparation of high density, high energy, low viscosity liquid ydrocarbon fuel by catalytic treatment of tetrahydrodimethyldicyclopentadiene (RJ-4) synthetic fuel. Endo-isomers within the fuel stock are isomerized to exo-isomers by treatment of the fuel stock with catalysts such as aluminum chloride, nickel, or pulverized, acid treated firebrick resulting in a fuel having a lower viscosity than the original RJ-4.

High density, low viscosity airbreather fuel (RJ-4-I)

A solid ramjet fuel composition comprising a hydroxyl-terminated or carbo-terminated fluorocarbon binder, a polybutadiene prepolymer, a curative cross-linking compound, and a metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, zirconium, amorphous boron or magnesium.

Ramjet fuel

Blends of Decalin with n-hexane, Tetralin with n-hexane and Tetralin with Decalin are useful as high density rocket ramjet and turbojet fuels under low temperature conditions.

High density liquid ramjet fuel

A fuel consisting essentially of about 80 weight percent hydrogenated nornadiene dimer and about 20 weight percent of a butylbenzene has a balance among volumetric heat of combustion, viscosity and flash point such that the fuel is suitable for use in the Modern Ramjet Engine.

High density-high volumetric heating value liquid ramjet

A method for propelling a ramjet or turbojet engine wherein a fuel consisg essentially of a mixture of a fraction of petroleum distillate having a boiling point of from 380.degree. F to 415.degree. F and butylbenzene is used.
