A computer program is provided for developing component based software capable of handling insurance-related tasks. The program includes a data component that stores, retrieves and manipulates data utilizing a plurality of functions. Also provided is a client component that includes an adapter component that transmits and receives data to/from the data component. The client component also includes a business component that serves as a data cache and includes logic for manipulating the data. A controller component is also included which is adapted to handle events generated by a user utilizing the business component to cache data and the adapter component to ultimately persist data to a data repository. In use, the client component is suitable for receiving a plurality of tasks that achieve an insurance-related goal upon completion, allowing users to add new tasks that achieve the goal upon completion, allowing the users to edit the tasks, and generating a historical record of the tasks that are completed.

Component based interface to handle tasks during claim processing

A behavior sets system facilitates the dynamic generation of field and rule behavior sets for an insurance policy and claims processing computer system. The behavior sets system includes various modules and graphical user interfaces that provide a streamlined mechanism for creating new behavior sets of field and rule behaviors for the insurance processing architecture. The behavior sets system may include various levels of usability that distinguish between an advanced user of the behavior sets system and basic user that uses the generated field and rule behavior sets. The behavior sets system may also include graphical user interfaces directed to adding, editing, removing, or maintaining the behavior of fields and rules for the insurance policy and claims processing computer system.

Behavior sets method and system

A computer system includes a server computer and an insurance claim database. The insurance claim database stores data in electronic format and includes a claim folder that decomposes data of an insurance claim for an insured event into a plurality of levels, the plurality of levels including a policy level, a claim level, a participant level and a line level. The server computer is configured to generate a user interactive interface that interactively displays at least one of the plurality of levels reflecting information related to a policy, the claim, claimants and an insured person in a structured format to a plurality of users, and to allow each of the users to simultaneously interact with one of the plurality of levels to retrieve and enter data for the same insurance claim.

Component based information linking during claim processing

The client component also includes a business component that serves as a data cache and includes logic for manipulating the data. A controller component is also included which is adapted to handle events generated by a user utilizing the business component to cache data and the adapter component to ultimately persist data to a data repository. In use, the client component is provided with insurance-related information concerning an individual and an event. The user is then able to input information concerning the involvement of the individual in the event. In addition, the user is able to link the individual to the event. Finally, the linked information concerning the individual, the event and the involvement of the individual in the event are displayed.

In use, the client component allows a user to define tasks during execution phase of the program that achieve a goal upon completion. The user is able to input rules which dictate which tasks should be selected based on a set of predetermined events. Tasks are generated based on received events.
