A low voltage AC power controller uses a line coupled capacitor AC to DC converter circuit to obtain energy from AC line power supplied to an AC load and may be used with an external high voltage AC switching device to control power supplied to the AC load. The line coupled capacitor AC to DC converter circuit provides a low power device that senses characteristics of the power supplied to the load and can communicate sensed information and/or receive control information related to the power supplied to the load.

AC power controller

A transceiver includes a processor, which is adapted to in a transmit mode of the transceiver, form at least part of a transmitter and in a receive mode of the transceiver, form at least part of a receiver. The transceiver may include at least one analog-to-digital converter to provide digital signals to the processor in both the transmit and receive modes of operation; and the transceiver may include at least one digital-to-analog converter to receive digital signals from the processor in the transmit and receive modes of operation. The processor may be fabricated on an integrated circuit with at least one of the analog-to-digital converters and/or with at least one of the digital-to-analog converters.

In an embodiment, a tuner circuit includes an inter-chip receiver circuit configurable to couple to a first inter-chip communication link to receive a first data stream and includes an analog-to-digital converter configured to convert a radio frequency signal into a digital version of the radio frequency signal. The tuner circuit further includes a digital signal processor coupled to the inter-chip receiver circuit and the analog-to-digital converter. The digital signal processor is configurable to generate an output signal related to at least one of the first data stream and the digital version of the radio frequency signal based on a selected operating mode.

A communications device is provided. The communications device includes a first antenna port coupled to a signal line, transmitter circuitry coupled to the signal line and configured to broadcast a radio frequency (RF) output signal across the first antenna port, tuning circuitry coupled to the signal line, and a controller configured to adjust a tuning of the tuning circuitry. The first antenna port, the transmitter circuitry, the tuning circuitry, and the controller are at least partially integrated on the same integrated circuit.

Tuning circuitry in a communications device

A transceiver includes a processor and an analog-to-digital converter. The processor is adapted to in a transmit mode of the transceiver, generate a modulated signal in response to a first digital signal. In a receive mode of the transceiver, the processor is adapted to generate a demodulated signal in response to a second digital signal. The analog-to-digital converter provides the first digital signal in the transmit mode and provides the second digital signal in the receive mode.

A communications device is provided. The communications device includes first output stage circuitry configured to generate a first radio frequency (RF) output signal in response to receiving an RF input signal, a first antenna port configured to couple to a first antenna and configured receive the first RF output signal from the first output stage circuitry, second output stage circuitry configured to generate a second RF output signal in response to receiving the first RF output signal, and a second antenna port configured to couple to a second antenna and configured to receive the second RF output signal from the second output stage circuitry. A low-noise amplifier includes a first resistor that receives a first signal of a differential input signal, and a second resistor that receives a second signal of the differential input signal. The amplifier includes a first transconductance device coupled to the first resistor that provides a first signal of a differential output signal, and a second transconductance device coupled to the second resistor, that provides a second signal of the differential output signal. The receiver also includes a first capacitor coupled between the first resistor input and a control electrode on the second transconductance device, and a second capacitor coupled between the second resistor input and a control electrode on the first transconductance device. The low-noise amplifier can include additional gain stages.

A radio frequency (RF) communications device is provided. The RF communications device includes transmitter circuitry configured to generate a calibration signal on a signal line coupled to an antenna port in a calibration mode of operation and an RF output signal for broadcast across the antenna port subsequent to the calibration mode of operation, tuning circuitry coupled to the signal line and configured to receive the calibration signal, and a controller configured to adjust a signal level of the calibration signal generated by the transmitter circuitry and a tuning of the tuning circuitry during the calibration mode of operation. The transmitter circuitry, the tuning circuitry, and the controller are at least partially integrated on the same integrated circuit.

A digital direct access arrangement (DAA) circuitry may be used to terminate the telephone connections at the user's end that provides a communication path for signals to and from the phone lines. Briefly described, the DAA provides a programmable circuit for the DC termination for a variety of international phone standards. The invention may also be utilized with circuitry for transmitting and receiving a signal across a capacitive isolation barrier. More particularly, a DC holding circuit is provided in which a programmable DC current limiting mode is available. In the current limiting mode, power may be dissipated in devices external to a DAA integrated circuit. Moreover, much of the power may be dissipated in external passive devices, such as resistors.

A digital direct access arrangement (DAA) circuitry may be used to terminate the telephone connections at the user's end to provide a communication path for signals to and from the phone lines. Briefly described, a means for providing a proper hookswitch transition for a variety of international phone standards is provided. The invention may also be utilized with means for transmitting and receiving a signal across a capacitive isolation barrier. More particularly, a DAA circuitry may be utilized which satisfies many or all hookswitch transition standards without the use of additional discrete devices. The hookswitch transition standards may be satisfied by ramping down the current flowing through the hookswitch prior to transitioning the hookswitch state. In this manner the hookswitch current change as a function of time (di/dt) may be decreased. Thus, the current through the hookswitch may be actively controlled prior to switching the hookswitch from an off-hook condition to an on-hook condition. By controlling the current drawn from the phone lines through the hookswitch, the maximum voltage seen at the phone company exchange may be decreased.

Digital access arrangement circuitry and method having current ramping control of the hookswitch

An improved modem architecture and associated method are disclosed that integrate modem and line-isolation circuitry so as to achieve modem functionality and system-side isolation functionality on a single integrated circuit. The combined modem and line isolation system has both on-hook and off-hook intrusion detection for use with parallel connected phone line connection devices. During on-hook intrusion detection, when the combined modem and line isolation system is on-hook the system can detect if other parallel connected phone line connection devices are already off-hook. During off-hook intrusion detection, when the combined modem and line isolation system is off-hook the system can detect if other parallel connected phone line connection devices are attempting to go off-hook. On-hook intrusion detection may be accomplished by monitoring the phone line voltage through a pin utilized for setting DC termination characteristics.
