A component and card coupling alignment and support apparatus includes a card. A primary component connector is mounted to the card. A primary component including a connection edge engages the primary component connector. A secondary component extends from the primary component. An alignment and support member is included on the secondary component, whereby the card engages the alignment and support member on the secondary component. The engagement of the alignment and support member with the card aligns the primary component with the primary component connector during their coupling and supports the primary component in the primary component connector after their coupling. The card may then be coupled to an information handling system connector in an information handling system.

Alignment and support apparatus for component and card coupling

A low profile expansion card retaining clip is disclosed. In one aspect, the present disclosure teaches a chassis component forming a part of a chassis including a panel having an aperture formed therein. The aperture maintains access to a computer component. The computer component has a bracket. A frame formed adjacent the aperture receives a portion of the bracket. A retaining clip movably couples to the frame such that the retaining clip moves between an engaged position and a disengaged position. The retaining clip oriented and designed to permit airflow through the frame. A spring member operably extending from a portion of the retaining clip, the spring member operably engages the bracket to secure the computer component to the chassis component in the engaged position and operably permits removal and installation of the computer component in the disengaged position.

A computer including a guiding and latching device for mounting expansion cards in the chassis of the computer. The device includes a body member defining a slot and comprising a latch movable between a non-latching position in which the slot can receive the board and a latching position in which the board is latched in the slot. The device is formed of one piece and includes a flexible arm that pivots between a latching and a non-latching position.

A circuit board has mounted thereon a component package which is secured in place by a retaining device designed to maintain the component package in place and protect it from shock and vibration. The retaining device includes a shortened and strengthened retaining arm which in one position acts to snap on to the component package thereby holding it in place. In a second position the retaining device is removed and repositioned relative to the component package to be utilized in providing a leveraging action to detach the component package from the circuit board.

In a computer chassis having a wall, an interiorly-positioned card cage associated with the wall, and the card cage having a card guide slot therein, a card guide retaining device. In a preferred embodiment, the card guide retaining device has a retainer having (1) a first end extending to within the computer chassis through a retainer aperture in the wall, the retainer aperture corresponding to the card guide slot, and (2) a second end extending to without the retainer aperture exterior to the computer chassis. The first end includes a gripping surface to engage and retain a card guide positioned about the card guide slot. The gripping surface may be a generally rectangular planar member extendable over a retaining tab portion of the card guide to thereby secure the card guide against a card guide ledge of the card cage. The second end has a flanged portion to contact an exterior surface of the wall. The retainer may be moved between an engaged position and a disengaged position from the exterior of the computer chassis via the flanged portion. The retainer is configured to provide a retaining force from the wall to the card guide when in the engaged position.
