The present invention pertains to an enzyme preparation obtained from e-beam irradiated animal tissue, such as porcine pancreas. The present invention also pertains to methods for making such enzyme preparations, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such enzymes preparations, and methods for using such pharmaceutical compositions and enzyme preparations.

Enzyme compositions with reduced viral and microbial contamination

A process for manufacturing and using pancreatin micropellet cores and pancreatin micropellets which are substantially free of synthetic oils. In one embodiment, a pharmaceutical composition is provided comprising a pancreatin micropellet with the enteric coating being designed to deliver pancreatin to the upper portion of the intestine of a mammal for release.

Also provided are methods for making and using the enteric-coated oral dosage form. Delayed release pancreatin compositions

Orally administrable pharmaceutical compositions of lipase-containing products, particularly pancreatin and pancreatin-containing products, or of enzyme products which contain at least one lipase of non-animal, especially microbial origin, which improve the lipolytic activity and particularly result in stabilization of the lipase in the acidic pH range. These oral pharmaceutical compositions contain a system which includes at least one surfactant and one co-surfactant and optionally a lipophilic phase, and are self-emulsifiable on contact with a hydrophilic and a lipophilic phase. The compositions according to the invention are suitable for treating or inhibiting maldigestion, especially maldigestion due to chronic exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, in mammals and humans.
