The present disclosure is drawn to aqueous ink compositions, methods of printing on offset coated print media, and printing systems. In one example, the aqueous ink compositions can include from 2 wt % to 5 wt % pigment, from 70 wt % to 95 wt % water, from 1 wt % to 10 wt % binder, from 0.1 wt % to 3 wt % non-ionic surfactant, from 1 wt % to 15 wt % humectant solvent including a hydrophilic group, and from 0.3 wt % to 4.5 wt % non-volatile glycol ether co-solvent having a boiling point of 220 C or greater.

Aqueous ink compositions

Inkjet inks are described herein. In an example, an inkjet ink can comprise: at least one colorant; at least one solvent comprising glycerol in an amount of from about 1 wt % to about 20 wt % based on the total weight of the inkjet ink; water; and at least one binder, wherein the binder comprises a polyurethane-based binder dispersion.

Inkjet ink(s)

The present disclosure is drawn to an ink set, which can include an ink composition and a fixer composition. The ink composition can include from 2 wt % to 8 wt % pigment, from 0.1 wt % to 0.5 wt % dye, from 2 wt % to 10 wt % polyurethane, and an aqueous ink vehicle. The fixer composition can include from 3 wt % to 15 wt % divalent metal salt, and an aqueous fixer vehicle.

Ink sets

The present disclosure is drawn to UV-curable inkjet inks, fluid sets, and printing systems. An example UV-curable inkjet ink can include water, a photo-initiator, from 8 wt % to 25 wt % organic co-solvent, and from 2 wt % to 20 wt % of a polyurethane. The polyurethane can include a polymer strand including a polymer backbone having two ends terminating at first and second capping units. The polymer backbone can be formed of polymerized monomers including a diisocyanate and a reactive diol selected from an acrylate-containing diol or a methacrylate-containing diol. The first capping unit can include an acrylate-containing monoalcohol, a methacrylate-containing monoalcohol, an allyl-containing monoalcohol, an allyl-containing monoamine, a styrene-containing monoalcohol, an acrylamide-containing monoalcohol, or a methacrylamide-containing monoalcohol reacted with an isocyanate group of the diisocyanate. The second capping unit can include 3-(cyclohexylamino)-1-propanesulfonic acid or 2-(cyclohexylamino)ethanesulfonic acid reacted with an isocyanate group of the diisocyanate.

UV-curable inkjet inks

An example of a liquid bonding agent, for a liquid ink including a wax emulsion in an amount less than 1% actives, includes a calcium salt, the wax emulsion, an acetylenic surfactant, a glycol, and a balance of water. The wax emulsion is present in the liquid bonding agent in an amount ranging from greater than 0% actives to about 2% actives. The liquid bonding agent is to be digitally printed with a thermal inkjet printhead on a substrate under the liquid ink.

An inkjet ink for an offset coated medium includes: water; a colorant; a binder that is a polyurethane-based dispersion; a co-solvent; and two or more surfactants. A first surfactant has a first hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) value either within a water dispersible range or within a hydrophobic range and a second surfactant has a second HLB value within a hydrophobic range. The combination of the first surfactant and the second surfactant is to adjust a surface tension of the inkjet ink to a value lower than a surface tension of the offset coated medium on which the inkjet ink is to be printed.

Inkjet ink

The present disclosure refers to an inkjet ink set including a black ink with a black pigment, a yellow ink with a yellow pigment, a cyan ink with a cyan pigment and a magenta ink with a magenta pigment, wherein at least one of the ink further contains a polyurethane binder; non-ionic surfactants; humectant solvent; non-volatile glycol ether co-solvent; a polyethylene wax emulsion and a balance of water. The inkjet ink set can also includes an orange ink, a green ink and/or a violet ink. The present disclosure refers also to a system for printing the ink set described herein.

Inkjet ink set

A radiation curable polyurethane-based binder dispersion includes water and a radiation curable polyurethane dispersed in the water. The polyurethane is formed from: a polyisocyanate; a polyol having a chain with two hydroxyl functional groups at one end of the chain and no hydroxyl groups at an opposed end of the chain, and having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 500 to about 5,000; an acrylate or methacrylate, the acrylate or methacrylate having at least one hydroxyl functional group and having an acrylate functional group or a methacrylate functional group; an alcohol or a diol or an amine having a number average molecular weight less than 600; and a sulfonate or sulfonic acid having one or two amino functional groups.

Radiation curable polyurethane-based binder dispersion

A pre-treatment fixing fluid for an offset coated medium is disclosed. The pre-treatment fixing fluid includes calcium-containing cationic crashing agents consisting of calcium propionate and calcium nitrate, wherein the calcium propionate is present in an amount ranging from about 0 wt % to about 10 wt %, and wherein the calcium nitrate is present in an amount ranging from about 15 wt % to 0 wt %, both based on the total wt % of the pre-treatment fixing fluid. The pre-treatment fixing further includes a co-solvent, a surfactant, and a balance of water. The surfactant is selected from the group consisting of a first surfactant having a first hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) value within a hydrophobic range and a combination of the first surfactant and a second surfactant having a second HLB value within a water dispersible range.

Pre-treatment fixing fluid

An inkjet ink set containing a pre-treatment fixing fluid including calcium-containing crashing agents; at least a co-solvent; one or more surfactants and a balance of water; and, at least, a liquid ink. The liquid ink includes a pigment dispersion, a surfactant, a polyurethane binder, a co-solvent and a balance of water. Also disclosed are and inkjet printing system containing such ink set and the method for printing in such inkjet printing system.

Inkjet ink set with a pre-treatment fixing fluid

An example of a radiation curable binder dispersion includes water and a radiation curable binder dispersed therein. The radiation curable polyurethane is formed from a polyisocyanate; an acrylate or methacrylate having at least two hydroxyl functional groups and having an acrylate functional group or a methacrylate functional group; another acrylate or methacrylate having one hydroxyl functional group or one amino functional group; and one of i) a homopolymer or copolymer of poly(ethylene glycol) having one or two hydroxyl functional groups or one or two amino functional groups at one end of its chain; or ii) a combination of i and a compound including a carboxylic functional group.

Radiation curable binder dispersion

An inkjet printing system is described herein. In an implementation, the inkjet printing system includes a fixer dispensing unit for applying a fixer composition on a substrate and an ink dispensing unit for applying an ink composition on the substrate. The fixer composition includes a metal salt in a range of about 5% to 10% by weight. Further, the ink composition includes a liquid vehicle having a non-volatile organic solvent, a colorant dispersed in the liquid vehicle, and a latex binder dispersed in the liquid vehicle.

Inkjet printing

An example of a pre-treatment fixing fluid for an offset coated medium includes calcium propionate, calcium pantothenate, tetraethylene glycol, a surfactant having an HLB less than 10, an acid, and a balance of water. The calcium propionate is present in an amount ranging from greater than 4.5 wt % to 8.0 wt %, the calcium pantothenate is present in an amount ranging from about 2.0 wt % to equal to or less than 15 wt %, and the surfactant is present in an amount ranging from about 0.01 wt % to about 1.0 wt %, each based on the total wt % of the pre-treatment fixing fluid. The acid is present in an amount sufficient to render the pH from about 4.0 to about 7.0.

A pretreatment fluid for printing media with a pigment ink composition includes a liquid vehicle, at least one polymeric binder having pendant carboxyl groups, and an ammonium metal chelate cross-linker.

Pretreatment fluids with ammonium metal chelate cross-linker for printing media

A printing ink having improved printing performance is provided. The ink includes either a latex polymer derived from a monomer having an olefinic group and from about 1 to 10 wt % of N-phenylmaleimide or a latex polymer having a narrow particle size distribution that has a standard deviation of less than about 6% of average particle size, or both. The ink may be continuously printed for more than 1 hr without crusting.
