The present disclosure relates to a light source system suitable for use in a time of flight camera. The light source system includes a light source, such as a laser, and a driver arranged to supply a drive current to the light source to turn the light source on to emit light. The driver includes a capacitor to store energy and then discharge to generate the drive current, and the driver is integrated into a semiconductor die on which the light source is mounted. Consequently, the driver includes within it the source of energy for the drive current and the light source and driver are very close together, meaning that the light source may be turned on and off very quickly with a relatively large drive current, in order to output a high optical power, short duration light pulse.

Light source system

The present disclosure relates to integrated circuits which include various structural elements. In particular, a combination of trenches and cavities are used to mechanically isolate the integrated circuit from the surrounding substrate. The trenches may be formed such that they surround the integrated circuit, and the cavities may be formed under the integrated circuit. As such, the integrated circuit may be formed on a portion of the substrate that forms a platform. In order that the platform does not move, it may be tethered to the surrounding substrate.

Devices and methods for reducing stress on circuit components

The present disclosure relates to configuring at least one pair of devices in a physical unclonable function (PUF) apparatus and reading out at least one pair of devices for determining a persistent random PUF output. The pair of devices may be readout by measuring a physical difference between the devices/components caused by random manufacturing differences, which may then be used to determine a persistence random PUF output. Configuring the pair of devices includes measuring the random manufacturing difference and, based on that measurement, setting a readout condition for the pair of devices, which dictates aspects of the readout process that should be used for that pair of devices. Each time the pair of devices is readout in the future, it may be readout in accordance with the condition that was set at configuration.

Physical unclonable function configuration and readout

The present disclosure relates to a light source system suitable for use in a time of flight camera. The light source system includes a light source, such as a laser, and a driver arranged to supply a drive current to the light source to turn the light source on to emit light. The driver includes or is coupled to a capacitor to store energy and then discharge to generate the drive current. The driver can be integrated into a semiconductor die on which the light source is mounted. Thus, the driver can include within it the source of energy for the drive current and the light source and driver can be very close together. Therefore, the light source may be turned on and off very quickly, such as with a relatively large drive current, such as to output a high optical power, short duration light pulse.

Physical Unclonable Functions, PUFs, are hardware devices designed to generate a number that is random (i.e., two identical PUFs should produce randomly different numbers from each other) and persistent (i.e., a PUF should consistently generate the same number over time). Over time, aspects of the PUF hardware may change or drift, which may ultimately cause the generated number to change, and therefore no longer be persistent. Failure to generate a persistent number may cause difficulties for other devices that rely on the persistence of the number generated by the PUF, for example as part of a cryptographic process. The present disclosure relates to monitoring over time the physical characteristics of the PUF that are used to generate its number, and thereby keep track of its reliability to generate a random number that is persistent. By monitoring PUFs in this way, it may be possible to detect in advance a PUF that is at risk of generating a number that is no longer persistent, so that pre-emptive action may be taken before the PUF actually fails.

Monitoring a physical unclonable function

The present disclosure relates to integrated circuits which include various structural elements designed to reduce the impact of strain on the electronic components of the circuit. In particular, a combination of trenches and cavities are used to mechanically isolate the integrated circuit from the surrounding substrate. The trenches may be formed such that they surround the integrated circuit, and the cavities may be formed under the integrated circuit. As such, the integrated circuit may be formed on a portion of the substrate that forms a platform. In order that the platform does not move, it may be tethered to the surrounding substrate. By including such mechanical elements, variation in the electrical characteristics of the integrated circuit are reduced.

Differential sampling circuits may be adversely affected by changes in common mode voltage. Changes in the common mode voltage may alter the on resistance of transistor switches which it turn may mean that small signal changes are not correctly observed against a bigger common mode signal. The present disclosure relates to a way of improving the ability to resolve small differential signal changes by varying the supply or drive voltage to a component to compensate for common mode voltage changes.

Method of and apparatus for reducing the influence of a common mode signal on a differential signal and to systems including such an apparatus

A timer circuit is provided comprising: a resistor; a programmable gain circuit coupled to amplify the reference level based upon a resistor and a selected gain; a detection circuit coupled to identify the amplified reference level based upon a resistor; a selection circuit configured to select the gain based at least in part upon the identified amplified reference level based upon a resistor; a comparator circuit configured to transition between providing a signal having a first value and providing a signal having a second value based at least in part upon comparisons of a reactive circuit element excitation level with the amplified reference level based upon a resistor and with a second reference level; and reactive circuit element excitation circuit configured to reverse excitation of the reactive circuit element in response to the comparator circuit transitioning between providing the signal having the first value and providing the signal having the second value.

Resistor controlled timer circuit with gain ranging

The present disclosure relates to a gate driver system suitable for driving the gate voltage of one or more transistors. The gate driver system is configured to operate in a first state when the current conducted by the transistor is relatively low and in a second state when the current conducted by the transistor is relatively high. In the second state, the gate voltage is set such that the source voltage at the transistor establishes a lower voltage across a source-driven load than is the case when operating the first state, thereby reducing the level of power consumption in the load during second state operation.
