A deflectable gasket assembly for EMI shielding and environmental sealing is described. The gasket assembly is formed from an electrically-conductive mesh sheet positioned between adjacent conductive surfaces. A gasket is provided at the outer boundaries of the mesh sheet for environmental protection. The edge of the gasket has a branched sealing element extending above and below the gasket assembly for contacting the adjacent surfaces. The branched sealing element is deformable and can be used on external aircraft electronic components.

Deflectable conductive gasket with environmental seal

A contact electrode assembly for delivering at least one therapeutic agent into ocular tissue of a subject includes a flexible dielectric layer, a first electrode portion, and a second electrode portion. The flexible dielectric includes oppositely disposed first and second surfaces. The first electrode portion is disposed on the first surface of the dielectric layer. The second electrode portion is disposed on a portion of the second surface of the dielectric layer. The second electrode portion includes an interdigitated electrode having a first comb-shaped portion defining a first plurality of fingers and a second comb-shaped portion defining a second plurality of fingers. Each of the first electrode portion, the first comb-shaped portion, and the second comb-shaped portion is electrically connectable to a signal source.

Electrode assembly for delivering a therapeutic agent into ocular tissue

A composite gasket for sealing and EMI shielding is provided. The gasket has a resilient conductive mesh sheet embedded with an elastomer gel layer. The conductive mesh is corrugated to provide a series of repeating waveforms, providing the gasket with a lower deflection force, better corrosion resistance, and a higher EMI shielding capability. A second elastomer can be used around the edge portions of the gasket for improved abrasion resistance and increased tensile strength. A fiberglass sheet can be incorporated in the mesh for added reinforcement and support. The gaskets of the invention can be used on external aircraft components, such as external aircraft antenna mounts.

A composite gasket for sealing, lightning strike protection and EMI shielding is provided. The gasket has a resilient conductive mesh sheet embedded with an elastomer gel layer. The conductive mesh is corrugated to provide a series of repeating waveforms, providing the gasket with a lower deflection force, better corrosion resistance, protection against lightning strikes and a higher EMI shielding capability. A second elastomer can be used around the edge portions of the gasket for improved abrasion resistance and increased tensile strength. Encapsulated expanded crimped metal mesh for sealing, EMI shielding and lightning strike applications

An EMI shielding gasket having enhanced corrosion protection and force deflection is provided. The gasket has a body formed from an electrically conductive material with outwardly extending projections from one or both surface portions thereof. A non-conductive polymer gel is applied to the spaces between the projections for protection against corrosion. The gasket is particularly adapted for use in external aluminum aircraft surfaces which are exposed to harsh environmental conditions.

Low force deflection and corrosion resistant EMI gasket

An assembly for mounting electronic components includes a face plate comprising a thermoplastic material. The face plate includes a retaining element for securing a captive screw and spring assembly for mounting an electronic printed circuit board. The retaining element includes one or more slots adapted to expand the element to permit insertion of the screw and deformation of the hole upon insertion of the screw, while locking the screw to retain the screw in place. This arrangement permits the elimination of the metal standoff frequently used in similar devices. Methods for preparing the assembly and mounting the printed circuit boards are also described.

An apparatus for providing board level shielding of Electromagnetic Interference in a printed circuit board is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plastic part, a metal conformal coating and a form-in-place Electromagnetic Interference gasket. The plastic part is configured in one or more compartments to provide an enclosure, and is attached to the printed circuit board. The metal conformal coating is applied continuously to one or more surfaces of the plastic part. The form-in-place Electromagnetic Interference gasket is applied on top of the metal conformal coating in an area of a part flange.

Heat dissipation and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding for an electronic device having an enclosure. An interior surface of the enclosure is covered with a conformal metallic layer which, as disposed in thermal adjacency with one or more heat-generating electronic components or other sources contained within the enclosure, may provide both thermal dissipation and EMI shielding for the device. The layer may be sprayed onto the interior surface in a molten state and solidified to form a self-adherent coating.

Manufacture of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding cover or other enclosure part for housing circuitry of an electronic device. The enclosure part has an exterior surface and an opposing interior surface metallized with an electrically-conductive EMI shielding layer. The layer is sprayed onto the interior surface in a molten state and is solidified to form a corrosion-resistant, self-adherent coating.

Manufacture of electronics enclosure having a metallized shielding layer

A method of forming a low closure force gasket having alternating high and low contact points. The gasket is formed-in-place (FIP) on a surface of a substrate as a bead of a curable elastomeric composition which is issued under an applied pressure from the orifice of a nozzle. The is nozzle is movable relative to the surface of the substrate along at least a first axis disposed generally parallel to the substrate surface, and, optionally, along a second axis disposed generally perpendicular to the substrate surface. The nozzle is moved at a predetermined speed along the first axis, and, optionally, along the second axis to apply the bead along a given path on the substrate. One or more of the applied pressure, the speed of movement of the nozzle along the first axis of step, and the movement of the nozzle along the second axis are controlled to apply the bead in a periodic series of alternating high and low intervals relative to the substrate surface. The elastomeric composition then is cured under substantially atmospheric pressure to form the gasket on the substrate surface, with the high intervals of the bead defining the high contact points of the gasket, and with the low intervals of the bead defining the low contact portions of the gasket.

An apparatus for forming an EMI shielding gasket. The gasket is a formed-in-place gasket which is deposited by an extruder. The gasket material is a fluent polymeric material having a conductive particles disposed therein. The fluent polymeric material is supplied to the extruder by a material supply system having several canisters and a mixing chamber. The fluent polymeric material is fed to a chamber in the extruder. Pressure is applied to the fluent polymeric material by a pressure supply system which includes a source of positive pressure and negative pressure, and a control module for selectively supplying positive pressure and negative pressure to the extrusion chamber.
