A wind turbine apparatus has a tower and a plurality of blades rotatably mounted relative to the tower. Each of the plurality of blades has a reflective media on a surface thereof. The reflective media has at least a pair of primary colors. Each primary color is different from each other. The reflective media on one of the plurality of blades is arranged in an order different than in order of the reflective media of an adjacent blade. The reflective media can further include a mixed color of white. The reflective media comprises bands extending across a surface of the blade.

Avian avoidance system for wind turbines

A device for separating and extracting suspended solids and particles from a fluid is shown. The device can include a hydro-cyclonic process unit, a variable geometry vortex process unit, a reverse coalescence and flocculation process unit and a fixed geometry vortices separator process unit. The fluid to be treated can enter the device through a fluid inlet and travel and recirculate through the several process units. The process units can collectively induce vorticose separation of the fluid and separate suspended solids and particles within the fluid. The suspended solids and particles can then be extracted from the device via one or more extraction fluid outlets. After the desired amount of suspended solids and particles has been removed, the processed fluid can be discharged from the device.

Fluid separator device

A blade for a wind turbine has a surface with a first color band and a second color band and a third color band thereon in spaced relationship to each other. A luminescent band extends in the space between said first, second and third color bands. The first, second and third color bands are of different colors. The luminescent band extends around a periphery of each of first, second and third color bands. The first color band is a red color. The second color band is a white color. The third color band is a blue color.

A wind energy apparatus has a shaft, a plurality of masts extending radially outwardly of the shaft, a plurality of dihedral sails respectively affixed to the plurality of masts, and a plurality of lanyards respectively connected to an outward surface of the plurality of dihedral sails. A controller is connected to the lanyards for contracting and extending the lanyards relative to the position of the masts. A generator is interconnected to the shaft for producing electrical energy relative to a rotation of the shaft.

An improved proton exchange membrane fuel cell assembly and fuel cell stack assembly are provided for the economical and efficient production of electricity. The present invention comprises improved flow fields, which provide improved and more efficient mass transport of the reactants in the fuel cell and the fuel cell stack assembly. The improved flow fields comprise three-dimensional open-cell foamed metals that are preferably plated with gold. The improved reactant supply system comprises an improved distribution frame to house fuel cells wherein the reactants are directly connected to the improved flow fields.

Disclosed herein is a novel fuel cell stack assembly. In one embodiment, the stacks of the present invention comprise: a first and a second end plate; a plurality of fuel cells interposed between the first and second end plates, at least one of the fuel cells having a unitized MEA assembly and/or a compound flow field; a means to separate neighboring fuel cell components; and a compression means.

Fuel cell stack assembly

The present invention comprises a unitized MEA assembly for use in a fuel cell or a fuel cell stack assembly. In the embodiments of the invention, the MEA is made integral to the frame to reduce certain risks and disadvantages associated with nonstabilized MEAs in fuel cell applications. Specifically disclosed are two preferred embodiments of the unitized MEA assembly of the present invention and methods for making same.

The present invention is a polarized gas separator useful in the bipolar construction of a fuel cell stack. It comprises a porous conductive substrate and a barrier layer, the barrier layer having a first side and a second side, and laterally extending through the porous conductive substrate so that a first portion of the porous conductive substrate extends from the first side of the barrier layer and a second portion of the porous conductive substrate extends from the second side of the barrier layer. Effectively, the polarized gas separator is a single component system that not only enhances power performance of fuel cell stacks but also defeats several problems previously unsolvable by conventional bipolar plate assemblies.

An ammunition clip or magazine for a firearm including a self-contained system for sensing the amount of ammunition contained within the magazine and visually indicating that value to the user of the firearm. The counting and display system may be configured to display the number of rounds remaining in the magazine itself, or the number of rounds remaining in the firearm overall (the number of ammunition rounds in the magazine plus one round in the chamber of the firearm, if applicable), or it may be configured to simply indicate that the magazine is empty or that the number of rounds remaining in the magazine is below some other predetermined threshold. The magazine may be utilized in conjunction with any suitable firearm without modifying the firearm.
