A wireless sensor that can measure properties of a substance and transmits the properties to a remote wireless receiver is disclosed. The wireless sensor can be fully enclosed within a container containing the substance, for example, allowing remote monitoring of the properties of the substance without compromising the integrity of the closed system.

A system for providing communication and control for a Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) over a power line is provided. The system includes a microprocessor, an interface, a heater controller, a data coupler, and an external connector interface. The data coupler is configured to couple a data communication channel onto the power line. The external connector interface is configured to exchange vehicle data with a charging structure associated with the LEV via the data communication channel over the power line when the LEV is plugged into the charging structure.

A Stirling engine feedback controller is provided that includes a Stirling engine having at least one piston, where the Stirling engine includes an Alpha-Stirling engine, and a Gamma-Stirling engine. The feedback controller includes a power sensor, a computer, and an electronic feedback loop. Here, the power sensor is configured to sense the power of the Stirling engine then output a power signal. In one aspect, the computer can be a central processing unit (CPU), or a field programmable gate array (FPGA), where the computer operates a control algorithm. Further, the electronic feedback loop receives the output power signal and an output signal from the computer, where an output signal from the electronic feedback loop is configured to a control a position of the piston(s).

A universal charging system is disclosed. In one example embodiment, the universal charging system includes a charging adapter configured to be mounted on a light electric vehicle (LEV), a charging station, and a processor configured to control charging of the LEV. The present invention is directed to methods to harvest, integrate and exploit nanomaterials, and particularly elongated nanowire materials. The invention provides methods for harvesting nanowires that include selectively etching a sacrificial layer placed on a nanowire growth substrate to remove nanowires. The invention also provides methods for integrating nanowires into electronic devices that include placing an outer surface of a cylinder in contact with a fluid suspension of nanowires and rolling the nanowire coated cylinder to deposit nanowires onto a surface. Methods are also provided to deposit nanowires using an ink-jet printer or an aperture to align nanowires. Additional aspects of the invention provide methods for preventing gate shorts in nanowire based transistors. Additional methods for harvesting and integrating nanowires are provided.

Tunable laser systems use servo control loops to control and monitor laser parameters such as channel, temperature, and power. The many control loops operate asynchronously, which means that noise generated by input sampling and/or output updating from one or more loops could interfere with the sampled inputs of one or more of the other loops. Embodiments of the present invention synchronize setting and sampling of tunable laser parameters to reduce noise. Noise that is related to synchronized setting and sampling of tunable laser parameters allows the noise to be reduced to constant offsets to be compensated for in the laser parameters of interest.
