Microwave cooking carton

A food package for cooking popcorn in a microwave oven which comprises an inner pouch containing the popcorn kernels, oils and seasoning, an outer paperboard carton in the form of an inverted truncated pyramid and a stand therefor which is adapted to be packaged inside the carton. When the package is to be used, the outer carton is inverted and opened, the stand is removed, erected and placed in a microwave oven. The inverted outer carton is then placed on the stand which insulates the lower portion of the carton. In this position, the popping area of the package is in a position to be affected by maximum microwave energy efficiency and is protected against heat loss for maximum heat efficiency whereby, a higher ratio of popped to unpopped kernels can be obtained.

Food package

A reclosable paperboard carton and blank therefor, which carton has overlapping and glued end panels closing one end thereof. Once the end panels are opened, they can be reclosed by inserting a straight distal edge of one of the panels under an arcuate tab defined in the interior of the other panel. Using a plain, straight distal edge on the insertable panel reduces paperboard waste and manufacturing costs since exterior locking tabs are eliminated and single knife cutting can be used. In one embodiment, the tab is defined by an arcuate cut line and two spaced perforated lines extending from the arcuate line to the distal edge of the panel. In a second embodiment, the tab is defined by a cut-out recess extending from the distal edge of the panel and having an arcuate bottom edge.

Reclosable carton with interior tab and blank therefor

A telescoping container comprising a bottom section having a bottom wall and a plurality of side walls normal to the bottom wall and a cover section having a top wall and a plurality of side walls normal to the top wall; the side walls of the cover section extending on the outside of the corresponding side walls of the bottom section. A flap is externally secured to each of a pair of outer walls of the bottom section and a corresponding flap on corresponding walls extends inwardly of the cover section; this pair of flaps on the inner walls of the cover section passes the corresponding flaps on the outer walls of the base member when the cover section is placed on the bottom section and interlocks when the cover section is withdrawn. The top and bottom walls are caused to be bowed concavely. The bowing of these walls exerts outward forces on the interlocking flaps which, in turn, improves the locking action of the flaps when the cover section is fully extended from the bottom section. The cover member is provided with openings which will make the interior accessible to insects seeking out an insecticide and an attractant placed therein. The size of the openings in the cover section may be adjusted by vertical movement of the cover section to control the degree of exposure of the interior material as, for instance, when the interior material constitutes an air freshener either used alone or in connection with the insecticide.

Telescoping container

A carton having a front wall with a full width inner bottom panel extending therefrom provided with a cutout therein having end slits therein and a rear wall having an outer bottom flap extending therefrom and locking edges which are inserted into the cutout in the inner bottom panel. The side walls of the container have side bottom panels extending from each which have locking points adapted to be inserted into the cutout in the inner bottom panel. When pressure is applied to the bottom panels from the interior, the locking points in the outer bottom flap are locked into the end slits of the inner bottom panel cutout to lock the four bottom panels together.

Lock bottom carton

A sleeve is formed from sheet material, such as paperboard or the like, which sleeve is adapted to be wrapped about a tub having a tapered side wall. The sleeve is formed with two pairs of opposed side walls. One pair of the opposed side walls has the same taper as the wall of the tub and the other pair of opposed side walls is perpendicular to the top and bottom panels of the sleeve. The tub engages tuck flaps on the sleeve to hold the sleeve in place on the tub. The sleeved tubs can be stacked on their tops, bottoms, or on the perpendicular side walls.

A two part paperboard container having adjustable vents is described and is intended for use with a sublimable composition. The container consists of an inner tubular member and an outer tubular sleeve member, both of a truncated, conical configuration. The inner tubular member, which is adapted to receive the sublimable composition, is disposed within the outer sleeve member. The outer surface of the inner member is in frictional engagement with the inner surface of the outer sleeve member which functions to seal the carton. The inner member may be rotated relative to the outer sleeve member to at least partially align apertures provided in the upper cover portions of the tubular members, thereby exposing the composition to the air enabling it to sublime. Continued relative rotation of the tubular members will reset the apertures in the upper cover portions in a nonaligned position, thereby resealing the container. A handle means connected to a lower cover portion of the inner tubular member is provided to facilitate the relative rotation of the tubular members.

Two part container with adjustable vents

A rectangular take-out carton which includes a flanged tray and tapered locking cover is disclosed. The tray flanges along the opposed sides are outwardly and downwardly extending and have an outward and upward bias which locks them behind and in edge-to-edge engagement with folded back and secured marginal portions of the associated side closure panels of the cover which are normally biased laterally inwardly. The end flanges of the tray are outwardly and downwardly extending for engagement with downwardly extending tapered end closure panels of the cover to provide a carrying flange and closure combination which creates a thermal seal and permits the weight of the carton and its contents to be supported thereby. The cover lock is released by pushing down and pivoting the cover side closure panels outwardly against their normal bias to free the folded back marginal portions from their edge-to-edge contact with the opposed outwardly and upwardly biased side wall flanges of the tray.

Take-out carton with locking cover

A glueless, tapered sidewall tray erected from a unitary blank of paperboard. The tray has a hexagonal base with trapezoidal upwardly and outwardly extending printed side panels hingedly connected to the base sides. Alternate first side panels have pairs of side flaps on opposite side edges with tabs on the upper edges of the side flaps remote from the connection of the flap to its associated first side panel. Inner flaps on second side panels are hingedly connected thereto at their tops and extend downwardly to a lower central slot which interrupts the hinged connections of the second side panels with the base sides. The inner flaps have tabs which lock in said lower central slots. The tabs on the upper edges of the side flaps of the first side panels are received in top central slots which interrupt the hinge line between the second side panels and their associated inner flaps to secure adjacent first and second side panels. A hexagonal lid and closure panels may be attached to the upper edges of the first side panels.

Non-glued tapered tray

A paperboard carton and blanks therefor formed from a top unit and a bottom unit which are relatively slidable. A locking mechanism prevents the units from being fully separated. This locking mechanism comprises a locking flap hingedly coupled to and folded against a side wall on either of the top and bottom units and a corresponding stop member formed on an opposed side wall of the other of the top and bottom units. The stop member is comprised of two side glue flaps extending integrally from two adjacent side walls, each having a tab extending therefrom. The tabs engage the distal end of the folded locking flap to prevent full separation. Advantageously, the locking flap is trapezoidal and the side glue flaps form a trapezoidal recess with the tabs forming the smaller base thereof. An air freshener material or insect poison can be located inside the carton.

Carton with locking mechanism for slidable top and bottom

A paperboard tray and a blank therefor is disclosed which is collapsible to form a carton. More specifically, the subject tray may be collapsed and sealed to hold a product and may then be subsequently opened and reformed into a tray for use in serving or cooking. A pair of handle flanges are provided defining carrying handles when the tray is opened and for structurally rigidifying the tray and preventing its inadvertent collapse.

Air freshener dispenser

A shirt card, formed of a unitary blank of paperboard, for supporting a shirt during transport and display. The shirt is secured to the card without the necessity of pins. The shirt card is foldable and is self-locking in the folded position. The card comprises a main panel, a central fold line separating the main panel into top and bottom sections, a collar receiving extension at the top edge of the top section, a pair of slits receiving the sleeves of the shirt, a second set of slits receiving the sides of the shirt, and a tab and slit locking mechanism to lock the main panel in the folded position. The collar receiving extension can have a pair of opposed wing flaps for fully supporting the collar. A clothes hanger is received in the body portion of the shirt to support the shirt card with the shirt attached thereto.

Folding shirt card and blank therefor

A tray formed of a unitary blank of paperboard for supporting food during a heating process. The tray comprises a bottom wall, two side walls, and two end walls with tabs interlocking the side and end walls. Tabs on the end walls project through slits in the bottom wall to form legs which support the wall in an elevated position. Interior flaps in the main wall lock the end wall tabs in place. The tray is set up without the use of adhesive. Apertures in the bottom wall allow fluid, such as water vapor in the form of steam escaping from the heated food, to flow through the tray.

A paperboard container for use in a microwave oven to cook an expandable food has an octagonal bottom support panel, upwardly and outwardly extending trapezoidal side panels connected to each edge of the bottom support panel, and a pop-up cover of overlapped, semi-ovoid top panels. A top panel is foldably connected to an edge of each of the side panels and a circular seal is removably attached to one of the top panels and an opposed one thereof to close the container. Upon removal of the seal, the top panels assume a substantially upright position as extensions of the side panels to enclose and support, along with the bottom support panel and side panels, an expanded food package.
