A frame and comb foundation and method for controlling Varroa mites in a honeybee hive. In a first embodiment the invention is comprised of half portions of the frame and comb foundation in combination with a power supply, heating element, electronic control unit (ECU), temperature sensor and an optional diagnostic system. The ECU which may be mounted on the frame and comb foundation or, in a separate enclosure is comprised of a micro-controller and other circuitry. The temperature sensor is mounted adjacent to the heating unit. The power supply may mobile or stationary, such as a battery or line current. In a second embodiment, the frame and comb foundation is interconnected with similar frame and comb foundations in multiple hives that include individual ECU's and temperature sensors and individual wireless electronic communication systems, a single power source and individual heating elements. The multiple temperature sensors are mounted adjacent to the heating elements. The ECU's are mounted on the frame and comb foundations or in separate enclosures. The ECU's are comprised of logic circuits or micro-controllers and other circuitry. The power source may be a mobile or stationary source such as a battery.

A keyless entry system is presented for controlling a vehicle device function, such as the locking-unlocking functions of a vehicle door lock. The system includes a vehicle transceiver adapted to be mounted on a vehicle for transmitting an interrogation signal and also for receiving a coded reply signal and responding thereto for causing performance of a vehicle device function. The system also includes a plurality of portable remote transceivers, each of which receives an interrogation signal and responds thereto by transmitting a coded reply signal. The coded reply signals from different portable transceivers have different phase delays.

In this system the invention involves the improvement wherein the coding of the second code set into the transmitter is a unique group of binary bits and the receiver unit includes a field programming arrangement for setting the first code of the receiver unit to the unique group of binary bits in the transmitting unit by using the signal from the transmitting unit as received by the receiver unit. In accordance with this improvement, the first code of the receiver unit is set to the second code of the transmitting unit in the field and may be changed from one code to another code upon authorized use of a second transmitting unit having its own unique code.

A vehicle transceiver is employed in a keyless entry system for gaining entry into a vehicle and also for starting the vehicle's engine. The transceiver includes means for providing a start engine signal representative that the vehicle's engine is to be started, a brake signal representative that the vehicle's brake pedal has been depressed and a seat occupied signal representative that an occupant is located in the vehicle's driver seat. In response to these three signals, the transceiver transmits an interrogation signal to a remote transceiver which responds with a reply signal. The reply signal from the remote transceiver includes a security code that uniquely identifies the remote transceiver from similar remote transceivers. The vehicle's transceiver stores a prestored security code representative of a remote transceiver that may validly gain entry into the vehicle. The received security code from the remote transceiver and the prestored security code are compared and if a match takes place, the engine may be started.

A remote keyless entry vehicle receiver includes a memory that stores a security code for uniquely identifying a transmitter that is authorized entry into the vehicle. The memory also stores a broadcast code that identifies a broadcast message intended for general use by a group of vehicles, each being equipped with a similar receiver. A signal is received which includes at least a coded portion. The received coded portion is compared with each of the codes that are stored in memory. Vehicle entry is permitted when the received signal includes a coded portion that matches the stored security code. The driver is alerted and/or provided with a message when the received signal includes a coded portion that matches the stored broadcast code.

A remote control keyless security system for remotely controlling the locking and unlocking control functions of a lock mounted on a vehicle or the like. A receiver is mounted on a vehicle proximate to the lock to be controlled. A transmitter is located remote from the receiver and includes a plurality of selectively actuatable switches each representative of a control function to be performed by the lock and circuitry responsive to actuation of one of the switches for transmitting a digital signal including a first portion having a multi-bit security code uniquely identifying the transmitter from that of a plurality of similar transmitters, a multi-bit sequence control code adapted to be sequentially changed in response to each actuation of a switch and a multi-bit function code identifying one of a plurality of control functions to be performed by the lock. The transmitter changes the sequence control code after each operation with the change being dependent upon information contained in the security code identifying the transmitter. The receiver stores a multi-bit receiver security code identifying a specific transmitter from which the receiver may validly receive a digital signal. The received security code is compared with the stored receiver security code to determine whether the security codes match. The receiver also stores a multi-bit sequence control code.

Remote control security system

A remote control keyless security system is presented herein for remotely controlling locking means mounted on a vehicle. A receiver is mounted on a vehicle. A remote transmitter includes a plurality of switches each representative of a control function to be performed and circuitry responsive to actuation of one of the switches for transmitting a digital signal having a security code, a sequence control code adapted to be sequentially changed in response to each actuation of a switch and a function code. The transmitter changes the sequence control code after each operation with the change being dependent upon information contained in the security code. The received security code is compared with a stored receiver security code. Circuitry responds to each occurrence of a match between the security codes for reading a stored sequence control code and changing it to define an updated sequence control code having a value dependent upon information contained in the stored security code. The updated sequence control code is compared with the received sequence control and an output indication is provided in dependence upon the comparison.

A transmitter is provided for transmitting a remote binary control signal to a vehicle-mounted receiver having a stored unique security code, a security code comparator, circuitry for powering up and activating the code comparator upon receipt of a signal including an integral power up initiation code, and circuitry for outputting a vehicle function command corresponding to the function code portion of a received signal having the matching unique security code. The transmitter stores a unique security code comprising a sequence of binary bits and has a plurality of manual switches each operable to transmit an integral three-part signal comprising a sequence of binary bits including the power up initiation code, the unique security code, and a selected one of a plurality of function codes. Preferably, the power up initiation code includes at least two binary bits, the unique security code includes at least twenty-four binary bits, and the function codes each include at least three binary bits. Upon continued depression of the manual switch, the transmitter sends a second integral three-part signal containing a different function code.
