A radio antenna interface for a portable radio is provided comprising a radio housing having a control top with a circular walled control top opening for receiving an antenna, the circular walled control top opening having an interior surface with a protruding bumper feature formed thereon. An antenna having has a base portion for insertion into the circular walled control top opening, the base portion has a ring feature forming a full circumference bump around the base portion. Once the antenna is assembled with the portable radio, the ring feature is located beneath and abuts with the protruding bumper to form the radio antenna interface. The radio antenna interface provides increased friction to minimize loosening of the antenna under extreme usage conditions.

Radio antenna interface

A breather valve and a portable communication device including a breather valve are provided. The breather valve includes a housing having a bottom portion having an opening and side portions, a rigid substrate located within the housing and a breathable membrane mounted to the rigid substrate. The breather valve further includes a gasket having a top surface and a bottom surface, and a preloaded compression element across the gasket and the rigid substrate. The gasket has an upper energy director located at the top surface and a lower energy director located at the bottom surface. The preloaded compression element provides at least a first compressive position providing a contact between the lower energy director and the bottom portion of the housing and a second compressive position in which air passes around the lower energy director and the upper energy director.

The circuit board includes an electrical component that is aligned with the opening. The electronic device further includes a heat pipe mounted to the cover. A component assembly () used for picking and placing the component assembly includes a component (-) having a geometry incapable of being picked and placed or having a geometry that is unstable when placed through a reflow oven. The assembly includes a support member such as a detachable clip () having a pick and placeable surface such as a top flat surface (). The clip attaches to the component to modify a center of gravity to form a stable component assembly once attached to the support member. The component assembly can further include conductive elements (such as a center conductor () of a coaxial cable () and at least one ground conductor ()) used for registration with apertures or other surface locations on a substrate ().

Apparatus for conveying information in a portable communication device

A mounting assembly () for coupling to a circuit board () is provided. The mounting assembly can include a radio frequency (RF) connector () for receiving an antenna, a flexible cable () connected to the RF connector, and an alignment wall () supporting the flexible cable and providing a guide channel () to flexibly mount the RF connector to a mechanical housing (). The alignment wall can limit the movement of the RF connector to within a tolerance to alleviate a solder stress on the circuit board.

Flexible antenna mounting assembly

A connector assembly () provides improved locking and retention through the use of a cylindrical body () having locking arms () extending therefrom and a malleable collar () that includes an integrally molded interior lip () and exterior bumps (). The malleable collar () is slid over a portion of the cylindrical body () such that the bumps () align with the locking arms (). Upon insertion of the connector () into a housing receptacle, the locking arms () compress the bumps () thereby providing resistance to aid with retention while the interior lip () abuts the cylindrical body () which facilitates sealing the receptacle.
