This disclosure describes techniques and apparatuses directed to defining a layout () and drawing elements for display by a graphical user interface () on a display screen () of a computing device (). The process of laying out a drawing area occurs in floating point, but drawing occurs aligned to pixel boundaries of the display screen. Drawing may also occur relative to pixel offsets with respect to the display screen and the layout. This layout process occurs in floating point to avoid accumulating errors. However, drawing occurs pixel-aligned, optionally relative to pixel offsets, to improve visual results including the centering of nested layouts and sharp element edges.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for obtaining a minimum visible change value for a particular animation comprising multiple frames, the minimum visible change value corresponding to a condition at which change to the particular animation is not visible; determining, based on the minimum visible change value, a termination threshold distance from an animation endpoint and a termination threshold velocity for the particular animation; for each frame of the particular animation, determining whether a current distance from the animation endpoint satisfies the termination threshold distance from the animation endpoint and a current velocity satisfies the termination threshold velocity; and in response to determining that the current distance from the animation endpoint satisfies the termination threshold distance from the animation endpoint and the current velocity satisfies the termination threshold velocity, initiating termination of the animation.

In general, techniques are described by which a computing device may automate source code adaption to inject features between platform versions. The computing device may comprise a memory and a processor. The memory may be configured to store source code referencing a first application programming interface for a first version of a programming platform. The processor may be configured to automatically adapt the source code to reference a second application programming interface for a second version of the programming platform such that the source code maintains functionality of the first application programming interface for the first version of the programming platform, and output, based on the automatically adapted source code, an executable file.

The preprocessor module identifies, based on parsing source code of a layout file that defines a user interface, a plurality of data binding expressions that each define a respective data binding between a user interface element of the user interface and a model object, determine, based on the plurality of data binding expressions, dependencies between each of the plurality of data binding expressions, and generate, based on the dependencies, additional source code for updating at least one respective data binding defined by the plurality of data binding expressions in response to a change to a property of the model object. Some embodiments of the present invention provide a system that enters items into a gift registry. During operation, the system photographically captures images of items at stores containing the items. Moreover, the images include a set of barcodes identifying the items. Finally, the system enters the one or more items in the gift registry using the product codes.

The invention relates to the backup of a user session on a network. When the user at a client, such as an ISP, makes a request on the network, this request is routed by a load balancer to a primary host server on the network. The selection of the server is done by the load balancer in such a manner as to distribute the load on the system evenly and prevent overloading of one particular server. Once the user request has been routed, user specific information such as a session identification code or a password is provided to the primary host server and the session is set up. A single session must comprise of at least one application process on the selected primary host server. On commencement of the session, the load balancer designates at least one other server on the network to act as primary backup server for the user session set up on the primary host server. The primary backup server stores session information from the primary host server and in case of a server breakdown, the backup server takes over as the primary server. The load balancer then configures another server to act as backup server for this new primary server. According to the invention, the backup function of the servers is equitably distributed across servers so as to ensure that no one server is excessively burdened with the backup functions.
