A pair of stacked springs are connected between a main railway car body and a truck. At least one of the springs include an elastomeric member having a center opening therein. Restricting members are provided to limit the lateral movement of one of the springs while permitting free vertical movements of both of the springs.

A steerable railway truck includes a main frame structure having a bolster and a pair of side frames to be secured to a car body. A pair of 'C' shaped sub-frames are interconnected. Extending arm portions of the sub-frames are slidably mounted to the end of the side frames on shear plate assemblies. Hanger elements extend from the main frame to hold the interconnected sections of the sub-frame. A steering link member is connected between the main frame and one of the sub-frames to force the two frames to steer when the car body moves over curved tracks.

An anti-locking system controls the service braking pressure for controlling the application of pneumatic braking pressure applied to a wheel vehicle. A valve responsive to the speed of the wheel causes actuation of a fluid pulse generator to generate fluid pulses of predetermined amplitudes and frequency to switch the braking pressure on and off when the vehicle wheel becomes locked.

Anti-locking brake system for a vehicle

A power actuating mechanism uses a mechanical spring to normally urge a pin through openings in a track and rail of a trailer and bogie, respectively, to lock the trailer to the bogie. Structure is provided to selectively apply air pressure to an actuator to overcome the bias of the mechanical spring and move the pin out of the opening in the track of the trailer to unlock the bogie from the trailer for repositioning or removal.

An anti-locking mechanism includes an assembly attached to move with a wheel of a vehicle. The assembly includes a spring biased inertia wheel movably mounted to a manifold. A valve connected to control the application of braking pressure is normally held closed when the inertia wheel and manifold are rotated at the same rate by the wheel. When the vehicle wheel is decelerated at an excessive rate, the inertia wheel overcomes the bias of the spring and continues to rotate about the manifold to open the valve and prevent braking pressure from being applied to the wheel.

Anti-locking mechanism

An anti-lock system in a vehicle includes a valve system having normally closed valves responsive to the speed of the wheel of the vehicle. Pressure within the valve system controls the application of the braking pressure. Normal braking pressure is applied during normal deceleration of the vehicle. The valves open to release the pressure in the valve system to prevent braking during excessive deceleration of the vehicle. A time delay mechanism renders the valve system ineffective when the pressure therein drops and remains below a predetermined level for a predetermined time interval to thereby permit normal braking to be resumed.

Anti-locking with fail safe system

An anti-lock system comprises a source of pneumatic service pressure for controlling the application of pneumatic braking pressure to a wheel vehicle. A valve connected to and responsive to the speed of the wheel to shut off the service pressure when the vehicle wheel becomes locked thereby preventing braking pressure from being applied.

Anti-locking system

A bolster for carrying a car body rests transversely on a pair of side frames of a truck. A side bearer and wear plate assembly are disposed between the ends of the bolster and the side frames to permit the bolster to be rotated relatively about small angles with respect to the side frames. The side bearers each comprise a body having relatively low friction surfaces in engagement with the wear plates. Each of the low friction surfaces may include two or more parallel arcuate tracks or segments which may have radii corresponding to the directions of angular rotation movements of the bolster. The total surface area of the low friction surfaces is designed for optimum operation for predetermined load conditions.
